Your OpportunityAs an Electrical Engineer, you will be expected to work with minimal supervision, taking a lead role for electrical/controls on both smaller projects and larger projects. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project, verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, deliverable preparation, client meetings, and field support for information gathering, start-up and commissioning.

Reporting RelationshipsThis role will report internally to the electrical group manager but will have other “soft” lines of reporting to the project managers for projects that you are working on. Although you will not have any direct reports, you will be responsible for overseeing other team members on project-related activities.
Your Key Responsibilities Responsible for projects of complexity/size. Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all electrical engineered systems or products for a project (generally 480V distribution and lower) but some medium voltage design can be expected. Design and/or give input to plant wide control systems that include PLC’s, HMI’s, remote I/O racks, MCC’s, VFD’s, and all associated networking requirements in varying topologies. Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. Utilizes BIM technologies in development of 3D models of building’s electrical systems and provides markups for CAD designers. Prepares and revises documentation in various electrical phases including but not limited to single line diagrams, panelboard schedules, plan/location drawings, electrical equipment lists, cable schedules, area classification, network architecture, and P&IDs. Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors. Participates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating. Assists with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule. Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents. Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software. Participates in constructability reviews. Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects. Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group. Works on multiple projects, demonstrating effective time management. Your Capabilities and Credentials Minimum of 5 years of experience; preferred 8+ years of experience. Comprehensive knowledge and application of National Electrical Code and applicable building and energy codes, as well as knowledge of electrical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards, to be able to: Populate a power, instrument and communications cable schedule, including sizing conduits, wires and cables. Size and specify equipment such as PDPs, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, and associated overcurrent protection devices. Lay out electrical rooms, providing required working clearances and access. Write contractor scope of work summary documents. General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness Ability to manage time to meet project budget and schedule. Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. Knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, and their typical symbols and nomenclature. Knowledge of the following systems are preferred but not required: Fire alarm, Wireless, Lightning Protection, Data and Automation Networks, PLC/PAC/DCS’s, BAS/BMS’s, Lighting design and controls, Security/CCTV/Building Access, and PA/Alarming/Notification. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Presentation and interview skills are preferred. Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Ideal applicant would have experience with at least some of: SKM Power Tools, Visual Lighting Software, Autodesk Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, basic understanding of databases and data structures to manage large-data by leveraging tools such as Smart PID or other engineering databases. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering Licensed Professional Engineer in one or more US states, or the ability to obtain within one year.Work Environment and Physical Demands
Indoor (Office Environment) Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Noise level varies but generally at levels of conversation. The majority of time is spent using a computer/laptop at a workstation and related office equipment. Time spent carrying, reaching, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling up to 9 kilograms / 20 pounds Occasional – 1-33% of shift. Subject to extended periods of sitting; may be required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk short to moderate distances to perform work. Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment if needed.
This position will require domestic and possible international travel based on project requirements.
