Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will design, develop, test, and optimize the manufacturing and installation of instrumentation and controls, components, or systems for commercial use. This role involves daily interfacing with the engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with a strong experience in control system design (hardware/software/network), electrical panel design, power calculations, risk assessment, component selection and configuration, control system programming, and control system installation and commissioning.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.Develop electrical schematics, electrical interconnect, and cabling interconnect diagrams.Design electric heater SCR control panels, including mechanical layout of equipment within.Design PLC systems and programming per project-specific requirements.Design electrical junction box mechanical layout.Work closely with other engineers, customers, and management to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment, including defining complete electrical BOMs.Coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.Develop Factory Acceptance Test requirements and provide support.Review technical requirements and prepare technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.Troubleshoot and resolve issues in instrumentation and control systems, providing timely solutions, including production troubleshooting and support.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.5 to 10 years of relevant experience, including hands-on experience with instrumentation, controls, and low voltage power.Proven experience with codes and standards, including ASME Section IX, ASME Section VIII, Zone 2 hazardous areas (UL/FM, ATEX, IECEx).Proven experience with instrumentation, controls, and low-medium voltage power.Familiarity with the National Electric Code.2D AutoCAD experience required.Additional Skills & QualificationsMaster's degree and/or Registered PE in the state of New York is a plus.Hazardous location design experience is highly preferred (Gas Groups B, C, D).Knowledge of Six Sigma, electrical engineering, and Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.3D experience with AutoCAD/Inventor is a plus.Work Environment
The position is based in Altamont, NY, with a casual dress code. Standard business hours start at 8 am.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
