Job Description

AECOM Buildings + Places Electrical Team is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. This position can be based out of Edmonton, AB with opportunities for hybrid work.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit, Municipal, Commercial, Industrial water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, Environmental and Government projects.

Job Summary: 

The role involves diverse tasks related to electrical power systems, distribution systems, instrumentation, and control devices for different applications such as water/wastewater treatment and industrial processes.

Major Responsibilities:

Design and specification development for electrical power systems up to 25 KV, distribution systems, and low-voltage applications including lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, and security systems.Designing power systems, instrumentation, and process control devices for various processes, especially in water/wastewater treatment and industrial applications.Experience with institutional, commercial, and light industrial projects.Expertise in power system design and analysis, including integration of solar and electric vehicle (EV) systems.Ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and project documentation according to QA/QC programs.Collaborating with other discipline engineers, designers, and project managers as a key team player in integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery.Coordinate with local hydro utility service suppliers for incoming power services.Managing and organizing multiple work assignments, including supporting the production of contract documents.

Construction Administration Responsibilities:

Attending site inspection, meetings and site reviews complete with reports.Review shop drawing and answer Contractor RFIs.SI and CCN preparations.Contractor change quotation reviews.Progress billing reviews.Supervision of FAT and SAT and electrical system commissioning.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess at a very minimum: 

A University Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution and no less than four (4) + years of related industry experience in institutional, commercial, and light industrial projects, with exposure to renewable energy and water/wastewater treatment processes.Professional Engineer designation. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with OESC, OBC, IEEE, NFPA, ASHRAE, CSA and other industry standards and codesApplicable experience in electrical-related design and commissioning, including electrical distribution systems and equipment up to 25kV, variable speed drives, and instrumentation & control systems.Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.Experience with various computer-aided design platforms like MS Office, Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and MS Project.Great knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (NEC or IEC exposure is an asset), Alberta Building Code, and National Energy Code.Proficiency in using AGi32 Lighting Design software.Knowledge with power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP and experience of performing system studies including Short Circuit and Protection Coordination Study, Arc-Flash Hazard Analysis and Harmonic study, Load-flow Study.Additional certifications such as PMP, LEED etc. is a bonusExperience with Instrumentation and Control system design is a plus\
