Your work environment at EXP

In this position, you will be part of our Energy division. This division brings its experience in all forms of production and transmission of electrical energy, including hydroelectric power plants, renewable energies (wind and solar farms), high and medium voltage transmission, distribution networks and substations.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Function as a engineer in medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) substation design. Substation design encompasses distribution, sub-transmission, transmission level voltage classes , HVDC/FACTs, renewable energy (wind and solar farms) and industrial MV/HV projects. Develop electrical design deliverables, including power distribution schematics, Power system studies, protection and control design (protective relays), SCADA, communication and physical layout design. Interface and develop partnerships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Work on complex projects with a team of highly collaborative and supportive engineers! Design electrical power systems and their layout for various electrical HV transmission and MV distribution projects. Participate in the development of electrical systems design, including one line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams, SCADA and communication design, station physical layouts and elevations for electrical equipment’s such as medium-voltage cabinets, high-voltage equipment, control panels, electrical distribution centers, ground grid design and details, lightening protection plans, indoor and outdoor lighting design  Perform power system study and analysis including load flow, short circuit, grounding, protection coordination, arc flash and harmonic analysis and lighting studies. Preparation of Bill of Materials. Collect data in collaboration with other disciplines. Contribute to the design of plans and specifications, evaluate project quantities and costs Verify conformity of drawings and data sheets Perform or validate calculations for equipment sizing, selection of power cable gauges, cable and conduit plans and details, cable trench and duct design, cable trays and ladder design etc. Monitor quality assurance Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure budgetary requirements are met Communicate with customers and professionals (architects, structure and civil engineers etc.), to ensure proper project coordination Be part of the development of the Energy/substation group in the US. Prepare service proposals for various projects scope. Provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

 

What your experience looks like

You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally with a consulting engineering firm, a utility or an electrical equipment’s manufacturer You are a licensed Professional Engineering (PE)  You have a good knowledge of the US energy market. You are familiar with current codes and standards. You are familiar with electrical equipment in a medium- and high-voltage environment. You are familiar with Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook) Excellent communication skills You have a valid driving license and a car for travel. You have the ability to work under pressure, on several projects simultaneously. You have organizational skills, curiosity, ingenuity, attention to detail and autonomy. You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams. 

 

The pay range for this role is $110,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
