Job Description

AECOM Buildings and Places team is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our London or Kitchener, ON based team.

Job Summary: 

The job incumbent will be a part of our Buildings and Places Team, a vibrant and growing business line which delivers Engineering, architectural and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for vertical construction projects.  Project assignments may include, although not limited to, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, water / waste water and transit facilities. 

Major Responsibilities: 

Developing various types of reports  including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documentsPreparing electrical drawings and specificationImplement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail lighting, power, fire alarm, and specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. telecomm., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.)Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the projectConduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific dataEnsuring design conforms with all applicable codes and standards;Working with prime consultants, engineering consultants, and contractors; responding to technical queriesConstruction administration responsibilities:Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with reportsShop drawing reviewsSI and CCN preparations.Contractor`s change quotation reviewsProgress billing reviews Fire alarm verification report reviewsAble to work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the sameSound judgment supported by excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skillsWell organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must meet the below requirement, at a very minimum:           

Bachelor's Degree in EngineeringFour (4)+ years of experience in the engineering consulting industry, preferably in a building engineering groupRegistration as a Professional Engineer in OntarioEquivalent of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements: 

Experience with Electrical load calculations, lighting design and analysis a plusAdditional certifications such as LEED, LC, CEM, RCDD etc. are a bonusCommunications system design experience is a plusExperience with IES energy modeling tool is desirableSome Project Management experience and training desired.Familiarity with OESC,OBC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards and codesExperience in designing electrical power and lighting systemsKnowledge with power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAPProficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writingFamiliarity with providing guidance and support for others within a departmentAnalytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilitiesAbility to communicate, coordinate, and work well with others both internally and externallyStrong verbal and written communication skills and commitment to technical excellence and qualitySelf-motivated and proactiveAnalytical, resourceful and detailed orientedA good team player and decision maker
