**Job Description:**
**Scope:**
The Electrical Engineer (EE) is a key member of the electro-mechanical design team reporting to the Engineering Manager. The EE will work to design power and control circuits for new and existing food service equipment. This will include the component sizing/selection along with creation and revision of electrical schematics.
Additional responsibilities include wire harness design, prototyping and testing, troubleshooting, compliance testing and documentation in addition to new product and technology development.
**Skills / Ability:**
+ Minimum of 5 years of
+ Professional presence, trustworthy, respectful, team orientated
+ Proven experience designing control and power circuits for food service equipment with commercial, industrial, or related equipment experience considered.
+ Deep knowledge of commercial cooking standards including UL-Standard 197 and NSF/ANSI Standard 4.
+ Capable of leading multiple projects simultaneously requiring supplier coordination, hands-on testing and troubleshooting in the lab.
+ Strong results orientation driven towards taking initiative
+ Schematic design and wiring diagram experience required
+ Familiarity with mechanical design practices and data acquisition software to support lab testing efforts .
+ Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment where all employees make informed decisions with known risks understood and shared by all.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, SolidWorks
**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead electrical engineering functions for the business unit including design, layout, testing and evaluation of electrical and electro-mechanical devices and systems.
+ Update existing heating, power and control systems to improve efficiency while reducing costs and minimizing both customer maintenance efforts and warranty expense.
+ Pioneer altogether new cooking technologies, including advanced controls and heating systems, to further strengthen Vulcan’s position as an innovator within the food service equipment industry.
+ Manage and continuously improve in-house testing procedures for all lines of Fryer/Griddle Cooking equipment to improve product quality and worker safety.
+ Maintain electrical BOM’s ensuring standard costing files are updated while reviewing and documenting engineering change requests as appropriate.
+ Manage code compliance activities for new and existing products including UL, Energy Star and state level submissions and maintain required documentation.
+ Collaborate with other design team members to develop written instructions and manuals for installation, setup, operation and troubleshooting of Steam Cooking equipment.
+ Identify and coordinate Toolbox cost reduction activities related to electrical and heating components sharing ideas for component and product line simplification (PLS).
+ Coordinate development efforts with suppliers and in-house personnel to minimize time-to-market while ensuring that Stage Gate milestones are completed.
+ Manage patent applications in conjunction with ITW’s internal legal team to ensure that filings are submitted as necessary while participating in regular technology review meetings.
+ As requested, work with and support other ITW Food Equipment Group operations to develop and improve new cooking technologies.

**Physical Requirements / Working Conditions / Other Considerations:**
+ Plant floor, Office, and Lab environment
+ Approximately 10% travel
+ Onsite at Charlotte plant
+ Must be able to bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, reach and twist to complete all job task
+ Must be able to wear all required PPE (i.e., safety glasses, steel/composite toe safety shoes)
