Position: Commissioning Site Technician, Electrical
Location: Portsmouth, Virginia
Contract Duration: Initial 12-month contract (likely to be extended)
Airswift has been entrusted by one of our esteemed power clients to find a Commissioning Site Technician, Electrical for an exciting opportunity in Portsmouth, Virginia. This is an excellent chance to work on large-scale projects within the offshore wind industry, with the potential for contract extension.
Key Responsibilities: Site Supervision & Coordination: Be present at the work location to supervise, coordinate, and actively engage in commissioning activities. Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all commissioning teams adhere to HSE programs, project requirements, and contract agreements. Electrical Focus: Oversee electrical systems, equipment, instrumentation, and control activities, with a specific focus on electrical PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), and SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations). Electrical Work Authorization: Authorize, plan, and execute electrical work as the HV Electrical Authority, ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with safety and operational standards. Work Coordination: Support the coordination and authorization of work activities within an energized perimeter. Daily Meetings: Actively participate in daily coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders involved in commissioning work. Technical Input: Provide technical input regarding test status, schedule updates, and other relevant information to managers and schedulers. Documentation & Review: Support the process of reviewing and managing essential commissioning documentation, including reports, plans, and As-Built documents. LOTO & Energization: Execute and coordinate Owner LOTO isolations, documentation, and energization activities for both high and low-voltage equipment. Plan & Procedure Authorization: Review, authorize, and maintain plans, procedures, and certification documentation for commissioning activities. Owner Representation: Act as the owner's representative to witness, inspect, audit, walk down, and accept work performed. System Monitoring: Monitor electrical network systems to ensure a healthy operational state and prioritize troubleshooting based on alarm severity. Pre-Energization Tasks: Perform SLD (Single Line Diagram) walks, breaker line-ups, isolations, and system validations prior to in-service energizations. Preferred Experience: Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician or Commissioning Site Technician, with a strong preference for those who have worked directly on Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) projects. Offshore Wind Expertise: Experience handling electrical projects within offshore wind projects valued at $100M+. Education: Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
