Job Description
Albemarle is hiring for an Electrical and Instrumentation Designer. This position is located at the Kemerton site.
What You Will Do
Ensure adherence to Albemarle safety standards throughout capital projects and MoC plant modification work execution.
Protect Albemarle information in relation to new projects and when dealing with contractors and subcontractors.
Assist in developing and conveying the unique safety culture of the Kemerton plant, with the goal of zero harm (or other similar protocols developed for Kemerton).
Assist the mechanical design / draftsperson on an ad hoc basis.
Contribute to the development and review of new Electrical & Instrumentation projects, ensuring compliance and safety in design as per Kemerton design criteria.
Create new Electrical & Instrumentation layouts with preliminary additions and changes as required by each new project or MoC modification.
Prepare Electrical & Instrumentation cable blocks / hook-ups / single line diagrams, termination and installation drawings for smaller projects under the direction of the Capital Projects’ engineering team.
Develop & review vendor package interface drawings.
Take part in design reviews and HAZOPs as required.
Work collaboratively with the Albemarle Capital Projects team.
Maintenance of the Electrical & Instrumentation drawing registers & lists.
Review and respond to technical queries.
Ensure compliance with Electrical & Instrumentation design and layout criteria, ensuring safe design, accessibility, operability, and maintainability of proposed equipment.
Review and update design procedures, incorporating lessons learned, adherence to Albemarle corporate procedures and industry best practice.
Contribute to the development of the project schedule.
Identify any Electrical & Instrumentation project deficiencies for correction.
What You Bring
Required:
5+ years’ relevant design experience, preferably with Bentley MicroStation or AutoCAD models.
Prior electrical and instrumentation experience in DCS/ESD loop drawings, block diagrams, single-line diagrams, schematics, electrical equipment installation drawings.
Prior experience working in a chemical processing plant.
Demonstrate an organizational approach to designing equipment and prioritizing tasks to meet schedule requirements.
Strong communication skills in multi discipline teams.
Excellent computer literacy.
Advanced knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred:
Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Electrical) OR
Electrical/Instrument Trade or Engineering background desirable.
