Job Description Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic entry-level electrical and electronics design engineer for the embedded electronics group within the hardware directorate.  Employees in the embedded electronics group tend to focus on electronic hardware design, but also have enough understanding of software and firmware in order to develop simple test code and proper hardware interfaces.  Design projects typically last 12 to 18 months.  You may be working on space-based systems, missile programs, or miniature electronic systems.  Strong fundamentals and a desire to learn are critical in this position.  Over time, you will develop your skills towards designing PCBs and electronics using state-of-the-art FPGAs and microprocessors, high-speed serial interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet), and high-speed memory (DDR3, 4), and precision signal conditioning circuitry.

- Detailed electrical analysis, design and schematic capture
- Manage PCB layout design resources
- Hardware prototypes and debugging

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
• Translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures working with cross-functional teams.
• Design and/or complete instruments including microprocessors, power, and analog components.
• Innovatively solve issues, drive completion of the project to schedule, and collaboratively work with other technical contributors.
• Build and test prototypes, debug, and prepare documentation for manufacturing, and support.
• Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.
• Engage other engineers and partners to develop reliable, cost effective and solutions for products.
• Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
• Independently executes assignments under the oversight of program leadership.
• Eager to learn new technical skills and expand their depth/technical knowledge.
• Contributes content for technical reports and presentations with appropriate guidance.
• Adapt appropriately to changes in program requirements.
• Identify challenges associated with assigned work and communicate them to project leadership.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities
• Proficiency in electronic design, microprocessor or embedded computing.
• Understanding of design and general computer architecture.
• Ability to write detailed design specifications.
• Computer programming and coding abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent mathematical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.

• Thorough understanding of engineering theories and procedures.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's Degree preferred.

Experience
0-2 years experience in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or related.
