Job Overview:

EKG Technicians work with doctors and technologists and specialize in electrocardiogram (EKG) testing for both inpatients and outpatients.

EKG s are done by attaching wires and electrodes to a patient's chest, arms and legs. EKG Technicians monitor the readings, make sure the machine is attached properly and in working order, and record the results of the EKG tests. EKG Technicians are responsible for editing and forwarding final test outcomes to EKG management system for attending physician to analyze and interpret data. EKG Technicians keep equipment in good working order and check the quality of recorded data, perform assessments on patients of various conditions and ages, consider the physical and physiological needs of every patient, and develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations with other department personnel.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Graduate or Equivalent

Preferred:

Completion of EKG Technician Certification Course/ProgramPrevious EKG and Holter work experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

EKG CertificationBLS through the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift working, Monday-Friday 9:00 5:00pmSome weekend and holiday coverageFT

Performs EKG procedure as per policy and procedureApplication and removal of holter monitorsMatch orders between the EMR and Muse EKG for all EKGs done within the hospitalEditing and forwarding final test outcomes to Muse, the EKG management system for attending physician to analyze and interpret dataKeep equipment in good working order and check the quality of recorded dataCover the front desk when needed and train to cover EEG
