As a EHS Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
+ Providing technical expertise and assistance on all aspects of the site’s Environmental & Safety Compliance efforts to include Ergonomics, Noise, Machine Guarding, Process Safety Management (PSM), Site Emergency Preparedness, Safety & Injury prevention, Incident Investigation, Lockout/Tagout and Fall Protection.
+ Acting as subject matter lead on site safety programs, leading efforts to improve existing programs and enact new initiatives from 3M’s Center of Excellence.
+ Assisting in representing the site during audits by 3M staff groups as well as regulatory inspections.
+ Developing appropriate documentation on plant systems to comply with 3M requirements.
+ Assisting in the development and delivery of required EHS training to plant personnel.
+ Actively supporting EHS Cultural Excellence through personal responsibility for safety, health, and environment, promoting a culture to address incidents, near-misses, and potential hazards.
+ Auditing site processes to assure compliance with 3M & OSHA policies regarding issues such as: Ergonomics, Noise, Confined Space Entry/Rescue, Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding and Process Safety Management.
+ Providing EHS support in the design and installation of new or modified equipment, New Product Introduction System, Incoming Material Approval System, and Management of Change.
+ Assisting with the coordination and training of the Site Emergency Response Team.
+ Assisting in leading departmental EHS Projects.
+ Investigating workplace incidents and completing root cause analyses to determine appropriate corrective actions and conducting assessments of high hazard processes to reduce risk.
+ Providing technical assistance and guidance to plant by leading or assisting in safety committee team and meetings, including EHS regulatory interpretations.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Science or related field from an accredited university (completed and verified prior to start).
+ One (1) year of combined experience working in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
+ Three (3) years of experience working in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) role within a manufacturing/production environment. (Private, public, government or military).
+ Experience with ergonomic, noise, confined space & machine guarding assessments.
+ Certifications such as: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM); Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other related credentials.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work closely with Plant Management and Production employees.
+ Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organization skills.

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic travel

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $95,825 - $117,120, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
