**Job Description**
Execute and coordinate the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) activities and programs that drive positive behaviors and results. Under direction from corporate or senior EHS managers, develop, implement, and maintain site policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations. Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and updating of EHS policy and procedure manuals. Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Actively engage in location leadership meetings and provide timely feedback regarding regulatory and safety topics.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Execute and coordinate safety programs and policies including:
o Administer safety programs; conduct and/or coordinate required annual refresher training, drills, program audits, and updates § safety programs may include but are not limited to accident investigation, bloodborne pathogen to first aid/CPR, confined space entry awareness, electrical safety, emergency action, fall protection, hazard communication, audiometric testing and hearing conservation, heat stress, general safety, lift truck (forklift) including hoist operation, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, personal protective equipment, safety equipment programs, and respiratory protection
o Develop and implement effective programs for the identification, prevention, and control of occupational injuries such as health and safety education and training programs
o Manage an EHS improvement plan and ensure a zero-injury culture by encouraging regular employee participation in EHS activities
o Maintain current awareness of applicable federal, state, and local health, industrial hygiene, and safety regulations
o Maintain legal, governmental, and company environmental permitting/reporting, health, medical, and safety-related records according to standards, including confidentiality; maintain an accurate OSHA 300 log and associated worker’s compensation records and documents
o Maintain up-to-date safety data sheets (SDS), effective identification of all chemicals, chemical inventory, and related training and education programs
o Review operational areas (manufacturing, support, depot, warehouse) to assure ongoing safety; assist the management team and line organization in identifying hazards, developing job hazard analyses (JHA’s) and safe operating procedures for all tasks
o Develop and implement audit programs to review and assure compliance with applicable health and safety standards
o Review and manage site EHS assessment and behavior observations programs with emphasis on promoting heightened levels of safety awareness
o Assist management in investigating workplace incidents, determining root cause, and developing corrective actions
o Assist in creating incident review presentations using power point or other software programs and presenting the investigation
o Support all workers’ compensation activities with the assistance of Human Resources
o Coach managers and supervisors on their roles and responsibilities of implementation and adherence to safety policies and procedures
· Execute and coordinate environmental program and policies including:
o Perform required environmental audits/inspections, sampling, and testing (wastewater, storm water) to maintain facility compliance. Communicate/report non-compliant items or areas of concern to appropriate staff and coordinate correction of action items
o Function as the location liaison with corporate offices on environmental and legal concerns
o Function as the location owner of regulatory permit completion/submissions
o Coordinate training for environmental programs for employees
o Complete accurate monthly environmental reports and submit on time
o Maintain facility records as required by the DFA Environmental, Health and Safety Records Management system, including waste disposal, inspections, permits, audits, and correspondence
o Ensure that all documentation is completed correctly, accurately, and promptly

**Requirements**
· Undergraduate degree in safety/environmental sciences or related field (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
· 2 to 5 years of work experience in safety and regulatory administration, preferably in a manufacturing or transportation environment (depending on site)
· Certification and/or License – CPR/First Aid Certified; OSHA certifications and Certified Safety Professional preferred; other certifications may be required during course of employment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations
· Able to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols
· Able to learn and understand regulations and their impact to the organization
· Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to front line employees and managers
· Able to work collaboratively with employees in a variety of departments and build consensus around key initiatives
