Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

In charge of ensuring a safe and sustainable work environment for employees at the manufacturing facility, while adhering to environmental and safety regulations at all levels of government. Responsible for overseeing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs and policies, enforcing corporate EHS standards, and providing training to employees on environmental health and safety matters. Responds to EH&S emergencies, conducts accident investigations, and suggests measures for improvement and prevention.

Key Responsibilities Develop policies: Create and implement EHS policies and procedures Conduct audits: Identify and address risks Train staff: Teach employees how to avoid injuries and accidents Respond to emergencies: Investigate accidents and recommend corrective actions Prepare reports: Document findings for regulatory agencies Stay current: Keep up with industry trends and best practices Collaborate: Work with engineering, operations, and management teams Oversee systems: Lead the organization's Environmental Management System Experience. Assist to ensure effective delivery of  all Safety  and Environmental (S&E) related training and education programs and maintain S&E records. Work with site leadership to develop the Safety Annual Plan and track accomplishments Assist and leads  investigation and root cause analysis of work-related injuries and environmental incidents in conjunction with supervisors/managers, facilitate action planning to prevent reoccurrence Aid with reporting, tracking, and trend analysis of workplace injuries when they occur and ensure corporate reporting standards are followed Maintains metrics of plant EHS performance and provide weekly, monthly and  quarterly reporting Experiences/Education - Required

Education.

Bachelor’s Degree/Equivalent Experience                           

Work Experience.

3-5  years of experience in an S&E role at a manufacturing facility, Relevant Internship or working experience in a similar environment  Additional Skills. Basic Knowledge of S&E regulations, Knowledge of ISO14001 certification process, Good  verbal and written communication skills, Bilingual proficiency, Strong computer skills                 Experiences/Education - Desired Summer Intern experience/progressive experience within the field of engineering Green Belt Certification Project Team Leadership Shift supervisory experience
