Duties and Responsibilities ยท Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment ยท Assists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities, aids instructional efforts of the teacher. ยท Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas ยท Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts ยท Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing ยท Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts ยท Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional materials. ยท Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials ยท Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures ยท Participate in professional growth activities ยท Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district ยท Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Education and Experience Education: ยท Associate degree from an accredited institution in general education, sociology, or related field, Required ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited institution preferred Experience ยท Minimum 1 year of experience in a school setting or related field - Required ยท Minimum 2 years of experience working in an educational setting โ€“ Preferred ยท Successful experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified - Preferred Minimum Qualifications ยท Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing ยท Ability to understand and follow safety procedures ยท Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures ยท Ability to provide activities for students that encourage healthy growth ยท Child supervision skills ยท Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students ยท Skill in preparing instructional aids and plans Certifications Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate Physical Requirement / Working Conditions Working Conditions: ยท Normal classroom environment in a secure setting Physical Demands: ยท Routine physical activities in the classroom / school environment Statement of Purpose This document provides descriptive information about the above Department of Juvenile Justice Schools position.
