EDLF Adjunct in Higher Education (Faculty Wage)

The University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks applicants to teach and provide content expertise for the Student Affairs Practice in Higher Education: M.Ed. - Master of Education Program in the Department of Educational Leadership, Foundations and Policy during the 2024-2025 academic year.

This program is designed to prepare students for success in a variety of professional positions within higher education: student affairs, intercollegiate athletics administration, general administration and more.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach one or more courses for the Higher Education and Student Affairs Practice graduate programs.

Example courses include: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Higher Education, Governance in Collegiate Athletics, Student Affairs in Colleges and Universities, Financial Management and Budgeting in Higher Education, College Student Development, Organization and Management of Colleges and Universities, Athletics in the University, Research in Higher Education, Student Affairs and Athletics, College Student Experience

Syllabi are already designed and approved. Adjuncts are responsible for high quality teaching, interactive engagement and inclusive student-centered community building.

Required Qualifications:

A terminal degree (PhD, EdD) is required for teaching a graduate level course.Demonstrated expertise in the course topics being taughtStrong commitment to teaching excellence

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in senior leadership roles in higher education institutions.Expertise in higher education policy, student affairs, diversity and inclusion, higher education finance, or intercollegiate athletics.Familiarity with current issues and challenges in higher education, including equity, access, and innovation in learning environmentsPrevious higher education administration experience and/or career experience in the course content area is strongly preferred.

Course Format

The program is offered in person so only applicants who can teach in person will be considered.
