Job Summary:

The Editor is primarily responsible for cutting and editing footage until it meets a Producer’s approval. Rearranges and splices scenes that have already been shot, and inserts music, sound, or optical effects. Manages digital media for organization and archiving purposes.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Serve as editor on documentary and narrative videos of all types.
Make informed creative decisions about cuts in order to preserve messaging of the piece.
Take notes and direction from Producers and department head.
Ability to produce multiple edits from the same raw footage to meet needs of multiple audiences.
Post-production work may include updating, uploading, and quality control of finished videos and website.
Serve as IT tech on video shoots, keeping track of (video/capture) cards, transferring footage into computer and ensure the footage is secure.
Assist in digital transfer for media management, storage and transfer on hard drives to contracted editors.
Ability to color-time and color-grade footage a plus.

Other Responsibilities:

Ability to work with SA Officers, THQ and department staff, volunteers, vendors, and donors.
Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director of the Department, Producers, and others.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Proficient in professional video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Avid, and DaVinci Resolve.
Proficient with encoding video to different formats.
Ability to perform basic color correction and basic lower thirds and graphics.
Ability to edit sound, including audio cleanup and addition of music beds and sound effects.
Excellent communication skills; including, detail, proofreading, editing, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

Associate’s or a Bachelor’s degree in film/television production highly preferred.
Awareness of film procedure, terminology and production
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Google documents/drive, Dropbox, and other post production software.
