Responsibilities

The EDI Technician primary function is the technical support of ongoing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes. This includes the daily monitoring of EDI file processing, the troubleshooting of issues impacting successful receipt or delivery of data exchange partner files and the general support of issues relating to the timely handling of data intake.  The technician will be expected to log processing results and escalate issues that need handling.

 

Key functions include but are not limited to:

Participate in stakeholder meetings to understand operational requirements and systems goals.Contribute to prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.Review the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and recommend strategies for improving or further leveraging them.Collaborate in the onboarding of new data interfaces and enhancements to existing data interfaces.Manages the flow of questions and feedback during the ongoing production phases of data interchange processing.Supply feedback to EDI Business Analysts on such topics as timeliness, completeness and accuracy of data receipts.Communicates technical procedures effectively; makes data exchange concepts clear, simple, and understandable to both technical and business staff.Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures.Handles data file receipt, processing, monitoring and logging.Independently manage the monitoring requirements of exchange partners on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.Monitor, audit and report on the ongoing processing of exchange partners in the production environment.Audits data to validate information supplied to and received from data exchange partners.Triage and resolve EDI issues encountered in the production environment.Prepares exchange partner related documentation.Perform routine and ad hoc analysis of various facets of the ongoing EDI production environment; identify discrepancies and recommend process improvements.Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Works with EDI Business Analysts, programmers, and other consultants to implement solutions.Support account management with EDI issues that are raised and prioritized.Write maps for new changes and maintain existing maps.Ensure compliance with data privacy and security policies.Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the EDI processes.Build and maintain positive relationships with all EDI trading partners.Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, management information systems, or other relevant field; or equivalent work experience.One should have practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.Experience with data mapping, transformation tools and using SSIS package for data mapping is helpful.Solid written and oral communication skills including presentation, facilitation ability and experience managing customer and/or vendor relationships.Occasional overtime hours to meet project deadlines will be required.
