Edge Designer, Edge Capacity Planning and Design
Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience. + 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology. Preferred qualifications: + Knowledge of Content Distribution Networks (CDN), IP transit/peering, dark fiber, colocation, optical transport, cloud technologies and industry processes. + Knowledge of internal planning and design tools. + Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization abilities while paying attention to detail. + Excellent Financial skills (e.g., cost-benefit analysis). As a member of the team, you have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep our systems running smoothly. As part of the Edge Planning and Design team you will play a vital role in enabling various Product Areas through making sure that Edge network is efficiently built on-time while meeting our reliability and policy requirements. Working with Netsoft, Edge Planning and Design (EPD) team drives the software automation roadmap to improve the quality and reduce the cycle time for Edge planning and design. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible. + Produce plans that maximize demand admission within product Service Level Objective (SLO), in line with established standards and minimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). + Produce designs for all active devices participating in Production. Do consistently entire network, plan and designs completeness and reliably (on time publications and deliverables to the team’s customers). + Incorporate New Product Introduction solutions into plans and designs. Ensure plan and design toolsets and business processes are ready for intake New Product Introductions (NPIs). + Evolve the business processes governing the generation of plans (xPOR) and designs, throughout their life-cycle (input gathering, generation, validation, publication), including the business policies that govern them (architectural/topology, hardware life-cycle, capacity/utilization goal, failure policy). + Drive the automation roadmap of all automatable tasks performed by the team, reducing cycle time and improving quality and consistency.
