Emergency Department Technician- Full Time- Days\/Evenings FLEX\n

The ED Technician is responsible for working closely with the nurse to provide excellent direct patient care supporting activities of assessment, testing, and diagnosis of patients presenting to the emergency department, and helps prevent complications.\n

Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nDirect Patient Care- Toileting, ambulating, repositioning, monitoring and recording intake and output of fluids, recording patient weight, obtaining vital signs, and reporting abnormal findings or changes in the patient's conditions to the RN.\nPerforming direct observation and safety monitoring of patients assessed to be a threat to others, themselves, or ongoing medical interventions\nIntentionally rounding on each patient every hour.\nPerform 12 lead EKGs, Venipuncture and Post Care, Specimen Labeling, Point of Care Testing, prep and transport of instruments to Sterile Processing\nSafely transporting patients by stretcher or wheelchair outside the department for testing or admission\nMandatory Orientation Training completion required: one full week of Monday through Friday 8a-4p prior to starting work on the unit.\n\n

Required Skills and Experience:\n\nHigh school or equivalent experience\nBLS- will be provided if needed\n\n

Preferred Skills and Experience:\n\nPrior patient assessment and care experience preferred\n\n

Physical Requirements:\n\nFrequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).\nLifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.\nAbility to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nAbility to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.\nCapacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.\n\n

Location and Travel Requirements:\n\nOnsite at Cayuga Medical Center- 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850\nShift: 3x 12hr shifts, 7am-7pm\/11am-11pm as scheduled \n0% Travel can be expected in this role\n\n

Pay Range Disclosure:\n\nStandard Rate of $19.50 per hour plus benefits\n\n
