Job Title: Emergency Department Patient Care Tech
Department: Emergency Department
Location: Canton Potsdam Hospital
Hours Per Week: 37.5 (Hours regularly exceed this)
Schedule: 12 Hour shifts, 6:45 am to 7:15 pm; weekend and holidays (Could work non-standard shifts as needed: days, nights, swing shift, or some sort of combination.)
SUMMARY:
Provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision and delegation of a licensed nurse or practitioner, in accordance with established treatment plans. Assists with essential tasks to support the overall organization and efficiency of the Emergency Department. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to patient and departmental needs in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct patient care and support tasks to ensure smooth Emergency Department (ED) operations
Deliver safe, competent care including ambulation, patient transfers, and lifting assistance
Accurately measure and document vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain level) in the EMR
Perform EKGs and venipuncture as ordered by practitioners
Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and intra-hospital transfers
Maintain ED supply inventory by restocking, rotating stock, and removing expired items
Respond to emergency codes, perform CPR, and follow OSHA Category I precautions due to high exposure risk
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma
Basic Life Support
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CNA
EKG certification
Phlebotomy experience preferred
Medical terminology
Associates degree
Safe Patient Handling training
Excellent customer service

PAY RANGE:
$21.10 - $30.12The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
