Its main campus is located near Los Angeles, with additional locations throughout Southern California and in Arizona.Position SummaryThe Echo Tech uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound), and other noninvasive echocardiography testing equipment to produce images of the heart. These procedures require specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to specified patient population.Key Responsibilities include:Performs Echocardiogram, carotid and peripheral vascular studies, use non-invasive procedure, to examine heart valves, chambers, and blood vessels to produce images.Evaluates the various valves and chambers of the heart and makes appropriate measurementsPerform imaging and non-imaging cardiovascular evaluations which may include exercise tolerance tests, electrocardiograms, stress tests, and transesophageal echocardiography.Obtains patient history, explains procedure to patient, addresses patients’ concerns, and follows established pre-screening.Determines appropriate methodology and techniques to use: arrange immobilization and/or support devices for proper patient positioning: selects appropriate imaging deviceRecognizes potentially serious conditions (e.g., pericardial effusion, intracardiac tumor, thrombi, etc) and brings it to the attention of the physician. Maintains echocardiography and other equipment in efficient operating order; may perform minor preventative maintenance; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.Maintains inventory control, storage, and routing of supplies. Other duties in department as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:Associated degree in Cardiovascular Ultrasound.Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training.2 years’ experience performing M-mode and 2-dimensional echocardiograms, as well as Doppler studies.Required Certification/Licensure:American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), and/or Register Cardiac Sonography (RCS) from Cardiovascular credentialing international (CCI).BLS CPR Card from the American Heart Association.City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.
