Echocardiograph Technologist – Echocardiology

The Technologist, under the direction of a Cardiologist, performs echocardiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision as well as other duties as assigned. This requires independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves for a cardiographic diagnosis, whether scheduled or emergent. He/she will participate in the clinical activities, including call, within the imaging areas of Echocardiography, Surgery, Mobile Unit and Nursing Units. The Technologist must know and adhere to the principles of Echocardiography, including technical factors, equipment function, transducer selection, patient care and safety and documentation and be able to perform these functions in an efficient manner so as to provide high quality, patient-oriented services. Work is generally performed in accordance with established procedures and protocols, but the Technologist must have the abilities to solve problems and improvise, prioritize and deviate significantly from standard methods to efficiently achieve maximum, diagnostic results whether the procedure is scheduled or emergent.

The technologist is accountable for patient, self, family, coworkers' and volunteers' well-being while performing echocardiography. Duties must be consistent with minimizing pain and emotional disturbance and being cost efficient while maintaining and promoting employee and public goodwill.

May be required to drive own vehicle to mobile sites.
