Dynamic Simulation Engineer
Total Number of Openings 1 About the position: The Dynamic Simulation Engineer is part of the Process Engineering and Automation team within Chevron’s ENGINE team and provides Research & Development & Technical Consulting within Chevron in dynamic process modeling, operating training simulator (OTS) development and maintenance, dynamic & integrated engineering studies and model-based process design. The engineer will work in close collaboration with a team of Dynamic Simulation Subject Matter Experts in Chevron’s Technical Center (CTC) located in Houston, Texas and Richmond, California. Key Responsibilities: + Support or conduct dynamic simulations in support of capital projects or base business to assure the design, operability and safety of our facilities + Support Safety related studies may include process safety time simulations, safe compressor operations, startups, testing of control or safety logic to handle process excursions + Support all the activities in developing and maintaining high and low fidelity Operator Training Simulators (OTS’s).This includes development of functional design specifications, documentation analyses, model development, control system analyses, system integration and factory acceptance testing + Support foundational activities to OTS development and maintenance including interaction with IT and Process Control Network disciplines in the design, development and deployment of the OTS infrastructure including a variety of virtualized solutions + Provide remote support and troubleshooting of OTS issues for Chevron sites as needed + Tests new functionality provided by technology suppliers and provide feedback for enhancement to improve function, accuracy and efficiency of these tools + Support research of new technologies such as the use of physics-based models as predictive or prescriptive digital twins + Participate in on-the-job training/development opportunities through mentoring with Chevron Technical Center technical center counterparts Required Qualifications: + 5-10 years in a dynamic simulation engineer or OTS development engineer role with an owner operator or OTS simulation supplier + Experience with common Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) or packaged control systems e.g. Compressor Control (CCC) and Rockwell PLC + Well versed in the development and troubleshooting of very large scale, plant wide, dynamic process models + Demonstrated previous OTS project execution roles including control system integration, troubleshooting and deployment Preferred Qualifications: + 10+ years in a dynamic simulation engineer or OTS development engineer role with an owner operator or OTS simulation supplier + Experience with common Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) or packaged control systems e.g. Compressor Control (CCC) and Rockwell PLC + Well versed in the development and troubleshooting of very large scale, plant wide, dynamic process models + Demonstrated previous OTS project execution roles including control system integration, troubleshooting and deployment Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
