Duty Shift Manager

The Security Duty Shift Manager (DSM) will be responsible for supporting the Management Team in delivering the smooth and efficient running of the Security Service. The overall team objective is to ensure the security, safety and wellbeing of the site, visitors and to protect the property of the building, members and visitors against damage or theft; in accordance with procedures as determined by the site.

 

The DSM is the main person on site that manages the day-to-day operations of the entire security on campus. The DSM role is essential in the delivery of a high-class security service to the site as a client and their customers.

Position: Duty Shift Manager (DSM) Location: LSBU Group Pay Rate: £17.11 per hour Hours: 5hpw average; Shifts: 4 week rotation Week 1: 12:00-22:00 Mon; 14:00 - 22:00 Tue – Fri, Sat & Sun off Week 2: 06:00 - 14:00 Mon- Fri, Sat & Sun off Week 3: 20:00 – 08:00 Mon – Sun Week 4: 5days off; 08:00-20:00 Sat & Sun

Job Requirements

SIA Door Supervisor Licence (essential) SIA CCTV Licence (essential) Driving Licence (essential) Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel (essential) Excellent communication both written & verbal (essential) Experience as a Duty Shift Manager/Supervisor is required of at least 2 years (essential) Evac Chair Trained (preferred) Fire Safety Coordinator Training (preferred) Excellent levels of customer service Reliable, Responsible and Punctual To have a smart appearance befitting the company Flexible in the approach to daily duties and additional events when held on site Be calm under pressure and confident in dealing with confrontational situations in a professional manner Able to work as part of a team as well as on your own May be required to act as resilience for Southwark campus, thus travelling during shift may be needed

Job Role

To be responsible for the deployment of the security team to ensure that a satisfactory security presence is maintained on site at all times as required by the Client Representative(s). To ensure that all shifts are staffed to the required levels at all times and that any shortcomings or discrepancies are communicated to Security Operations Manager and the London Resourcing team  To ensure that all team members are fully conversant with the most current LSBU Policies, Emergency Procedures and Assignment Instructions, received from the management team. To ensure that all team members are fully conversant with any ad hoc instructions or notifications received from the management team. To effectively manage and monitor all duties carried out by team members, ensuring they are conducted efficiently and correctly, addressing any shortfalls by the implementation of additional training or disciplinary measures as required. To ensure that all Security Service team members wear the correct uniform whilst on duty. To manage any time keeping complaints received for team members, and to escalate ongoing complaints to the Security Operations Manager. To complete Return to Work interviews with team members after each absence or sickness, ensuring documentation is completed and submitted correctly. To manage any Leave Requests received from team members under the, ensuring that all documentation is completed and submitted correctly. To deliver training to the syllabus and standard as directed by the Security Operations Manager to all team members. To carry out ad hoc welfare, supervisory and communication visits with all team members, on a daily basis, ensuring duties are completed to the standard expected by the Client. To ensure that the Control Room policies and procedures are adhered to by the Security Control Operator. To effectively task and deploy the Mobile Response Vehicle, providing safety and security focused patrols, and ensuring vehicle maintenance and safety checks are undertaken and documented during each shift. To carry out annual appraisals with team members in the shift under the Security Operations Manager's supervision. To liaise with the Security Operations Manager to ensure University calendar events are diarized and team manning is appropriately planned. To ensure that a full and effective handover is completed with the oncoming Security DSM as per the Security Shift Handover Guidelines. To ensure any equipment and security system faults are escalated promptly To be accountable for the issue and return of all equipment supplied to the Security Services team, and to report any shortages to the Security Operations Manager. To be accountable for the keys managed by the Security Control Room, to audit these keys regularly and to report any shortages to the Security Operations Manager. To regularly test and audit the security systems and equipment as instructed by the Security Operations Manager. To be accountable for the correct and effective vetting and issuing of ID access cards to students; staff; visitors and contractors. To ensure compliance with Data Protection Legislation regarding disclosure of personal and confidential information held on the security databases and CCTV systems. To maintain close lines of communication and support with the management team, taking direction from either as required. To ensure that the relationship with the Client remains professional and respectful at all times. The Security DSM leads the Security Services team at all times and must be capable of making decisions within given guidelines. The Security DSM will also have to make decisions during more complex situations, prioritizing functions and requirements to deliver appropriate responses and an outstanding service. The Security DSM is responsible for the service delivery of the Security Services team, and as a figure of authority, and must take the responsibility of the role seriously and show integrity at all times. The DSM must guide the Security Services team to deliver the best possible service at all times, coaching team members and leading by example at all times. The Security DSM is responsible for bringing to the attention of the Security Operations Manager any situation which directly or indirectly affects the security service delivery at London South Bank University. Any other duties that are deemed to be a reasonable request. Post holder to comply with the University's Data Protection Policy and the Data Protection Act 1998 at all times when accessing, processing personal data. Post holder to adhere to data quality and generate data that is accurate, valid, reliable, timely, relevant and complete. The DSM must not show any favoritism towards any team members and treat everyone equal
