Pay Range

$166,590 - $206,820 Annually

Job Description

Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) has an opening for a Division Superintendent who will partner with our current Division Superintendent to oversee the effective administrative management and leadership of a large and diverse multi-disciplined technical workforce.  DTED’s workforce primarily supports the Strategic Deterrence (SD) Program but they also provide support to the Global Security (GS) and National Ignition Facility & Photon Science (NIF&PS) Programs. You will be a part of the DTED Senior Management team and will contribute to strategic and tactical initiatives to enhance the overall employee experience. This position is in DTED within the Engineering Directorate.

In this role you will

Provide high level oversight, leadership, and technical and/or administrative management, as well as significant input for Mechanical and Electronics Technologists, Designers, Coordinators, and other operations support staff on personnel actions including hiring, performance management, salary administration, promotions, and corrective actions.Partner, participate, and collaborate with the Engineering Directorate Senior Superintendent and other Division Superintendents to provide input, formulate, implement, and interpret work unit policies and procedures, manage workforce changes, staffing, technical development, and other initiatives in support of the Engineering Directorate.Independently assess, contribute, develop, and implement solutions to highly complex administrative and technical problems while exercising a high degree of independent judgement and discretion in pursuit of Division and Program technical and administrative objectives.Provide a high level of technical and administrative leadership in establishing work procedures, priorities, and directing others to accomplish work.Ensure code regulation and/or standards compliance for safety and security duties associated with workforce management are consistently applied and carried out across the Division.Provide significant programmatic support to SD, GS, and/or NIF&PS projects.Develop, prepare, present, and participate in design reviews, work control processes to include all phases, and other activities in support of technical and administrative assignments.Review and approve training qualifications of multidisciplinary personnel.Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or technical management, or the  equivalent combination of education and related experience.Advanced skills and extensive knowledge and experience in mechanical, electronics, design, and/or related technical field.Significant experience providing leadership and supervision that includes preparing performance appraisals and participating in personnel performance management processes, administration, and resource management.Significant experience directing technical support work through the effective utilization of people and available resources.Demonstrated complex problem solving and negotiating skills necessary to manage personnel issues effectively and to resolve setbacks.Advanced verbal and written communication, facilitation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to ensure that program requirements are effectively communicated in a timely manner, and that project needs and organizational objectives are met.Significant experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment or as an independent self-directed contributor regularly interacting with division and program level management.

 

Qualifications We Desire

Knowledge of Engineering’s policies and procedures.Experience with safety systems associated with radiation hazards, high explosives, and pressure system technologies.Experience as an Authorized Individual or Responsible Individual in the LLNL Work Control System. Additional Information

Depending on your job duties, you may be required to work in a Limited Area where you are not permitted to have a personal and/or laboratory mobile device in your possession.  This includes, but not limited to cell phones, tablets, fitness devices, wireless headphones, and other Bluetooth/wireless enabled devices.  

If you use a medical device, which pairs with a mobile device, you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas.  Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.

Pre-Placement Medical Exam

A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.
