DSP Respite - Citizens Brookville location Sat & Sun 10a-5p Part Time

Practices and promotes the agency’s mission statement and guiding principles in every interaction. Provides ongoing support to the people that participate in a respite program. Provides support in socialization, self-care, safety, socialization, and overall well-being.

Qualifications:

 High school diploma or equivalent preferred Must have the ability to communicate and understand written and oral directives/information

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Provides ongoing guidance and support to individuals with intellectual and other disabilities to ensure active participation in activities. Provides only the level of support necessary for each individual to ensure independence and engagement in activities Provides support to individual to become engaged in activities as well as maintain and build upon natural supports and relationships Ensures individual practices safety for all activities Reports incidents to Program Coordinator of Respite and/or Citizens management and/or the NYS Justice Center Follows all treatment plans and utilizes all corresponding adaptive and safety equipment needed for each individual, to promote independence and ensure their health, safety and well-being Implements and documents all treatment plans and other agency related materials Promotes and reinforces all agency philosophies including the guiding principles/POM and CQL at primary site, all other agency, community volunteer jobs, and all other hub sites Serves as member of team by participating in meetings to discuss, offer, and gather information and ideas. Provides transportation when needed Mentors new Direct Support Staff by demonstrating supportive routines and by reviewing trainings, to ensure new employees are sufficiently groomed to complete responsibilities Monitors and attends all mandatory trainings and personally ensures that their attendance is scheduled per deadlines.  Accompanying certifications (CPR; SCIP; AMAP) are to be maintained and scheduled as per required time-frames Performs all related tasks requested by supervisor Completes any other tasks that are requested by Program Coordinator of Respite, Respite                                                     Supervisor, Associate Director and Director of Family Support Services.

Physical Aspects may include, but are not limited to, lifting and transferring of individuals (children and/or adults).  Inability to meet the physical demands of the position my impact employment.

This position requires regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact  with people receiving services and, therefore, is subject to successful completion of fingerprint/criminal background check.
