You'll have...
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
12+ years of experience designing, developing, and releasing powertrains, power
electronics, or power units
8+ years of experience using 3D CAD software collaboratively (NX, Catia, 3DX, etc.)
8+ years experience using finite element methods for analyzing thermal and
lubrication powertrain components

 

Even better, you may have...
Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
High level of expertise and proficiency with Catia, Enovia, or similar tools including drawing and modelling practices and methodologies
Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products and prototyping powertrain systems
Experience with controls strategies for thermal and range optimization
Experience with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and Jira applications
Experience with instrumentation and measurement of powertrain systems in a lab environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are
part of a high performing team
A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to
strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.
Experience in a factory setting launching new products.

What you'll do...
Attract Top Talent: Proactively attract, recruit, and retain top-tier mechanical engineering talent to build a world-class EV development team.
Lead & Inspire a High-Performing Team: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Manage Thermal Performance: Define powertrain thermal and durability requirements, develop high-fidelity models to predict temperatures, and optimize cooling and lubrication systems.
Optimize Fluid Systems: Develop hydraulic models to accurately predict and tune oil flow within the drive unit, sizing components like oil pumps and bypass valves accordingly.
Create Analytical Models & Requirements: Develop requirements and correlated analytical models for various powertrain systems, collaborating with development teams across the engineering organization.
Lead Cross-Functional Optimization: Lead and contribute to design reviews, test plans, and requirements reviews to optimize the powertrain system cross-functionally, ensuring effective communication with manufacturing, supply chain, and other teams.
Implement System Improvements: Propose, validate, and implement system improvements, collaborating closely with design and motor controls teams to enhance performance and durability.
Develop Real-Time Control Models: Develop real-time temperature estimation models for deployment on production vehicles, enabling real-time motor control.
Develop & Maintain Test Plans and Documentation: Develop test and characterization plans, test rigs, and comprehensive documentation to support the development and validation of powertrain systems.
Utilize Advanced Analysis: Leverage 1D, CFD and FEA resources to understand key sensitivities and make informed design decisions for optimal powertrain performance and durability.
