Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Drive Engineer to join our team at ABB Marine & Ports in Vuosaari, Helsinki. In this role, you will be responsible for ACS6080 medium voltage drives and other ABB drive systems in marine electric propulsion applications.We value a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and a customer-oriented mindset. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in an international environment, contributing to electric propulsion systems for ships.You will be mainly accountable for:•Implementing ACS6080 medium voltage drives or low voltage ACS880 in marine propulsion applications•Defining motor drive systems and powertrain specifications•Performing system simulations and troubleshooting•Commissioning and validating drive and control systems•Providing technical support and troubleshooting during commissioning and operations•Collaborating with project teams, customers, and ABB experts•Developing documentation and standard solution

Qualifications for the role

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related fieldSolid understanding of electrical propulsion systems and medium voltage frequency drivesFamiliarity with marine electrical propulsion systemsHands-on experience with ACS6080 and ACS880 drives or similar drive technologiesStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in teamsWillingness to travel and fluent communication skills in English
