Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These internships include up to six months of on-the-job training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.

As an Accountant at SNC, you will learn to apply accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. You will support the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income. You will compile and analyze financial information to record transactions, prepare reconciliation, reports, and review and verify accuracy. Prepares accounting schedules and reports. And you will be responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures.

As SNC's corporate team, we provide the company and its business areas with strategic direction and business support spanning executive management, finance and accounting, operations, human resources, legal, IT, information security, facilities, marketing, and communications.

Responsibilities:

Accurately prepare adjusting journal entriesAnalyze account variances to provide a narrative for management reviewPrepare account reconciliationsAssist in process and system improvementsCross-departmental communication in support of transactionsProvide solutions for further automation of assigned tasksReview allocation coding on indirect purchase requestsLearn company process and continually look for efficiencies and ways to automate

Must Haves:

Currently serving as active duty military and eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge programBachelor's Degree in AccountingTypically 0-3 or more years of relevant experienceHigher education may substitute for relevant experienceRelevant experience (in Accounting) may be considered in lieu of required educationWorking knowledge of GAAPFamiliarity with Microsoft Excel data analysis and macrosDetail oriented with strong analytical abilitiesStrong organizational skillsPrevious exposure to automated accounting systemsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAble to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work collaboratively in a team

Preferred:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or pursuing Experience with MS Office products: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
