Document Custodian Manager - Vault (Onsite - Buffalo, NY)
Overview:

Manages Document Custodian staff and responsible for ensuring customer service, meeting Service Level Agreement (SLAs) and productivity targets and ensuring adequate team coverage. 

Primary Responsibilities:Manage the work distribution within the Document Custodian area and ensure daily, weekly and monthly work is completed in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with pertinent policies and regulations.Responsible for the leadership, problem resolution, analysis and reporting for the area.Monitor processes and procedures to ensure compliance and effectiveness of controls to mitigate operational risk.Ensure staff are properly trained and developed to support responsibility scope.Engage with staff and peers when necessary in the resolution of most complex problems through application of industry and experiential knowledge and skills.Participate on projects impacting the Document Custodian area including, but not limited to, developing test plans, strategies, scripts and independently testing system releases and enhancements.Review procedures and processes within the area on a regular basis; verify updates have been made as required.Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position manages a minimum staff of 10 employees, and may manage multiple teams with Supervisors as direct reports.  This position requires knowledge of the business, applicable regulations and affiliated technology with the ability to plan, organize and manage the work of assigned staff and produce results.

Education and Experience Required:

Associate’s degree and a minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/work experience, including a minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience

Minimum of 1 years’ work leadership and/or supervisory experience

Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent spreadsheet, word processing and email software

Strong organizational skills

Strong problem-solving skills

Detail-oriented

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Willing to work a flexible schedule as needed

Education and Experience Preferred:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the financial services industry

Ability to work under time constraints while maintaining accuracy

Knowledge of Bank culture

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 30-50 pounds 

Able to climb on a ladder/stool and bend for filing

Able to stand for long periods of time

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $60,890.34 - $101,483.90 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
