This position is posted in multiple office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (please note in the application questions where you prefer to be located). The candidate selected for this position may work remotely at a location other than a POWER-designated office/job site. Employees may need to travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings. **Role** As a Distribution Studies Engineer, your role is to help reshape the distribution system, so our clients can provide the power necessary for tomorrow’s needs. The role requires the ability to gain the level of knowledge required to execute technical projects independently and with others. This will include the ability to track and manage your scope, schedule and budget on multiple projects. Daily activities can include client calls, actively engineering solutions, mentoring or being mentored by other engineers, performing quality checks, developing processes, and other various project execution tasks. **Job Summary of Responsibilities** **:** The qualified candidate will be responsible for performing various studies to support the modernization of the utility distribution systems, this may be focused on one area or include a variety of the following skillsets: + FLISR (Fault, Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration) + Volt-Var Optimization or other similar programs (IVVC, CVR) + Distribution Resiliency + ADMS (Advance Distribution Management Systems) + Electrification of Transportation + DER Solutions (DERMS, NWA/NWS, Hosting Capacity, System Impact Studies) + Grid Modernization Protection Practices (Wildfire Mitigation, FLISR, VVO, etc) + Advance Planning Techniques (8760, Quasi Static Time Series Analysis) + System Protection and Coordination + Arc Flash + Event Analysis + Distribution System Planning Studies including construction work plans and long-range plans + Short-Medium Term Plans + Real and Reactive Power Flow Studies + Voltage Drop Studies + Operational and Outage Studies + Load Forecasting + The ability to interact with a wide variety of people to obtain the required information needed for performance of electrical distribution system studies + Perform engineering tasks associated with a critical or analytical engineering project or a small number of complex projects that require specialized knowledge in many areas + Track project schedules and budgets + Some travel should be expected + Ability to learn/support a variety of other distribution disciplines **Required Education/Experience** + A BSEE degree + Power systems focus or relevant power industry internship experience + Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles, including understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations + Ability to work in design teams, is self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn new topics + Must have strong command of English language; experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others + Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process **Desired Education/Experience** + EIT with the ability to obtain PE when experience requirements are met + Exposure to Electrical Power System Analysis using one of the following software packages – CYME, Milsoft, or Synergi + Two (2) + years of experience in the electrical power delivery industry + Experience with utility standards and overhead/underground distribution design + Experience in programing and/or scripting + Experience with the integration of distributed generation within the planning process POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is a global consulting environmental and engineering firm and one of the top design firms in the energy sector. That might seem contradictory to some, but it works for us! Base Salary Range: $78K - 95K per year The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike.
