As a Distribution Operator, you will be expected to carry out a range of varied tasks as requested by your Team Leader in order to pick, sort, scan, package and dispatch contact lenses to ensure customer requirements, production performance targets and quality standards are met and when possible exceeded.

This position is a part time role working on Blue Shift.  You will be expected to work the first 2 days of the shift pattern followed by 6 days off.

Essential responsibilities:

Picking materials & lenses for customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions. Pre-sorting lenses for customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions. Scanning fully picked customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions. Packing finished orders into cartons, pallets and using pallet trucks to move loads Dispatching customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions. Recording of data in accordance with company procedures & work instructions. Ensure best practices are followed in line with: Standard operating procedures GMP/5s  Continuous Improvement Initiatives. Basic cleaning and removal of waste at the end of each sift as directed by your Team Leader. Comply with health and safety regulations within the team and the environment ensuring safe practice regarding use of equipment (i.e. machinery, lift truck, manual handling equipment etc) and general good housekeeping to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Work Environment:

The post holders working environment is a large open plan warehouse / factory building.  All necessary personal protective equipment must be worn along with the use of the correct manual handling equipment and operating techniques. As well as some lifting the majority of products are transported throughout the building on movable cages which can also be heavy. Lifting up to approx. 15 kg. There may be some working at heights required. There is constant background noise from the operation of various packaging machinery. Temperatures in the warehouse fluctuate due to seasonal variations. Periods of prolonged standing.

What are we looking for?

Enthusiastic and flexible, a Team Player, also able to work alone as well as within a team, with good inter-personal skills. Experience of working in a warehouse environment, operating machinery preferred.  Understanding of Lean, continuous improvements, Health and Safety preferred. Basic computer skills (Microsoft packages)

In addition, you’ll have experience in:

Use of manual handling equipment, e.g. Wav Machine, Pump Trucks and Trollies. Ability to read, understand and work to SOP’s/ Work Instructions
