Our client in the Jacksonville, FL area is looking to hire a Dispatcher for their location. The primary duty of the dispatcher is to coordinate on-time pick-up and delivery of loads, which is imperative to the success of the company’s operations. The role of the dispatcher is essential to keeping the business going. The dispatcher spends most of their time tracing loads/shipments, managing freight volume, and remotely monitoring equipment use to ensure maximum efficiency.

The Day-to-Day:

Ensures all driver loads are covered and on timeConfirm drivers have the right equipment for their pick-upsRequests and reviews required paperwork for loadsTraces loads/shipments and manages freight volume as neededIssues keys, record sheets, and credentials to company driversMonitors on-time performance and prepares tracking reports for customersCommunicate with customers and customer service management regarding scheduling appointmentsEnter customer loads into WMS software; update loads when drivers call inCoordinates with vendors to address equipment failures and repairsPlans drivers’ dispatch and assigns loads to drivers according to business needs and driver capabilitiesCommunicate with drivers to provide dispatch instructionsCommunicates driver issues to supervisor; issues disciplinary action to drivers when neededCoordinates with other terminals to meet customer needs and ensure all pick-ups are madeMaintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses

Qualifications:

High School DiplomaExperience in the intermodal transportation industry strongly preferredAssociate degree or equivalent combination of education and relative experienceAbility to read and interpret business reports and daily logsAbility to work long hours if necessary to handle special customer requestsExcellent communication skills, written and verbal

Pay Rate:

$22.00 to $24.00 /hr

Schedule:

Monday to Friday (some weekend OT as needed)8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
