Dispatcher
KOBUSSEN BUSES LTD
The primary goal of the dispatcher is to receive information from a variety of sources and to provide that information to drivers in a timely and efficient manner. The dispatcher performs a variety of duties including typing, filing, answering phones, receiving and communicating information, and performing other technical and administrative functions in an office setting.
Essential Job Functions
Dispatch school bus and transit routes making driver substitutions as needed. Accurately record substitute drivers for payroll and bonus purposes. Assure that substitute drivers are fully instructed on routes, including maps and all necessary route information. Dispatch school bus charter trips. Be sure each trip is dispatched and assigned proper buses and drivers. Learn and effectively utilize the computer software systems (i.e. BusHive, Transfinder, Transportant, Paycom, etc.). Acquire and maintain CDL license with S and P endorsements. Drive bus as needed. Follow Kobussen Buses Ltd. safety and operational rules and procedures. Assist in supervising the cleaners and the cleanliness of the buses. Communicate regularly with mechanics and shop staff. Stay apprised of the status of vehicles. Assist the sales staff in the proactive booking of all school bus charters. Treat all drivers with respect and fairness. Work closely with the Safety Director to acquire and retain drivers. Assist the Safety Director with investigations of unsafe situations and/or accidents. Acquire and maintain a good relationship with the public and the schools. Remain polite on the phone and ask for assistance in difficult matters. Make no statements that will directly or indirectly conflict with Kobussen Buses Ltd. policies. Assist with the preparation of timely articles for the newsletter. Be a team player and make contributions to achieve business objectives. Work with HR to make sure all payroll functions are done accurately and timely.
