Position Summary

The Disease Area Specialist (DAS)/Medical Lead IM/Neuroscience Early Assets and Lifecycle is part of the Medical Team, reports to the Country Medical Director CHAT and provides a bridge between clinical research and the cross-functional Brand Team for Austria and Switzerland. Within the core brand teams, the DAS/ Medical Lead is the primary scientific and medical expert with significant knowledge of the local clinical environment in the assigned therapeutic areas (TAs).  He/she is responsible for contributing to development of brand strategy and leading execution of medical strategy & tactics for the asset and being the principal medical point of contact for regulatory, market access and commercial. The Medical Lead acts as a core brand team member, while maintaining functional independence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development

Develops and maintains deep knowledge of the scientific, clinical and competitive landscape, patient journey, and unmet medical needs in the respective therapeutic area.Develops indication/brand-focused medical plans to deliver on strategic imperatives​ and supports the development of the field communication planContributes to customer strategy and overall brand strategy development by providing TA and Product-specific scientific, medical, data generation strategies & lifecycle management expertise across customer typesProvides insights and medical input for local business cases / strategic planning for early assets and new indications

Medical Tactical Execution

The Disease Area Specialist will engage in scientific and educational dialogue with the (inter)national top TLs in the local market, share relevant clinical evidence based on the physicians’ needs and in accordance with the medical plan and gather medical insights and foresightsServes as local medical point-of-contact for internal stakeholders (regulatory, commercial, access, RCO, WW, etc) for early assets and established brands of the IM/Neuroscience portfolioSupports clinical development including Phase I-IV trials, primarily for local country and site and Investigator-Sponsored Research/clinical Research Collaborations as appropriate.Conducts key medical affairs projects (e.g, Advisory Boards, Satellite Symposia, scientific roundtables, etc.) and secures continuous medical education activities and other medical education.Embraces and utilizes new digital technologies and omnichannel approach to customer engagement in their daily workDrives asset-level medical evidence generation based on integrated Evidence Planning, with input from cross-functional teams Ensures content delivery and support for Medical Field rolesEnsures legal and compliance requirements are met as well as complying with pharmacovigilance rules and procedures.Is responsible for budget planning of medical activities within brand team

Required Qualifications & Experience

Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD)​, fluent German and English, ideally also FrenchRelevant scientific expertise and familiarity in Immunology/Neuroscience​:Scientific or clinical area, patient treatment trends, clinical landscapePharmaceutical industry including compliance and regulatory guidelinesAbility to navigate and build strong external relationships as well as internally across teams, including across functions and capabilities (e.g., Field Medical, Medical capabilities, Commercial, BI&A, Access, Corp./Patient affairs) ​Ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally (e.g., drive Integrated Evidence Planning, contribute to all customer-oriented strategies)​Ensure creation of medical content, along with Scientific Communications & Engagement20-30% local and international travel required including overnight absence (TL/site visits, local internal and external meetings, congresses)
