Director Technical Consulting for Nalco Company LLC in Naperville, IL to lead global technical consulting team located in South Africa, USA, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Australia.

Define the strategy for success for the metals flotation segment in the Mining division and lead innovation projects. Manage and direct the provision of direct Sales support, the development and deployment of new technologies, the optimization of existing programs, and the technical training and development of Nalco’s front-line Sales force.

Overall responsibility for the safe operation of four (4) laboratories located in Tucson, Arizona, Santiago, Chile, Seville, Spain, and Turaif, Saudi Arabia. Deliver strong growth to the Global Mining division. Collaborate closely with Sales, Research and Development (“R&D”), and Product & Industry Marketers, and his/her team to create, develop, and evaluate innovative new programs and services that provide sustainable and measurable value to our customers or potential customers.

Help develop the business strategy for the Flotation team and ensure that our mining customers are provided with the right products and services that add value to their processes and solve their unique technical problems. Supervise the provision of Sales support activities, including target account development, product selections, and plant trials. Lead and direct a team of Industry Technical Consultants in the execution of customer audits, the establishment and implementation of best practices, continuous improvement projects, the participation in annual business reviews, and the development of service tools to optimize customer processes and document the value of Nalco’s offerings to customers.

Collaborate with R&D to drive the development of new chemistries to meet unique customer demands or requirements, including specifications for product formulations based on knowledge of structure/function relationships. Supervise his/her team in evaluating the performance of new chemistries through laboratory trials and plant testing at customer operations. Lead and direct critical training, including Sales Representative technical training.

Requires:

Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience as a Metallurgist, Chemical Engineer, Technical Consultant or a related occupation in the field of mineral flotation, including product formulation, and developing and executing plans to improve performance of flotation operations in mineral processing plants.

Or, alternatively, Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related field plus seven (7) years of experience as a Metallurgist, Chemical Engineer, Technical Consultant or a related occupation in the field of mineral flotation, including product formulation, and developing and executing plans to improve performance of flotation operations in mineral processing plants.

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) in the operation and management of metal processing plants, and the design and testing of collectors and frothers used in base metals, precious metals, lithium and phosphate froth flotation operations; DE working with R&D and Sales teams to lead development and deployment of new mining technologies, products and processes, and evaluate the performance of new chemistries through laboratory trials and in-plant testing, including applications in froth flotation, process water scale control, and solids-liquid separation; DE developing global short term, annual, and multi-year strategies to achieve sales and profit targets in the global mineral processing industry; DE facilitating development and testing of value propositions, sales tools, training and competitive intelligence; DE managing plant trials regarding program performance and performance measurements in the mining industry; DE leading a global team to help deliver strong growth through sales support and development and deployment of new technologies and programs.
