Comcast Technology and Product Experience (TPX) is seeking a Director, Software Development & Engineering to join our Connectivity Customer Experience (CCX) team in the Connected Living Organization. We’re looking for a leader who is passionate about the career growth of engineers and is a highly effective communicator excited about nurturing an inclusive engineering culture. This leader plays an important role in driving execution of key initiatives for the CCX team within the Connected Living Engineering organization.
This leader’s responsibilities include enabling engineering outcomes in the development of the Xfinity App, facilitating cross cutting strategic project delivery within CCX, and providing day to day direction for front line engineering managers.
The role is best fulfilled by someone who excels at providing structure for a team through organized planning, efficient communication and project management. CCX is a global organization which requires a graceful balance of communication strategies to accommodate a dispersed leadership team. A crucial aspect of this role is the ability to facilitate delivery of team priorities through the influence of other leaders, often without direct authority.
**Job Description**
**Core Responsibilities** :
+ Creates and drives strategies in alignment with the Company's overall vision and business goals.
+ Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills to convey complex technical solutions clearly to an organization whose executive leadership is based in the US.
+ Drives efficiency while partnering with other engineering leaders and Product Management to ensure engineering priorities are met for the Xfinity App and externally exposed platform APIs.
+ Works with senior leadership to execute on the team’s strategic vision by implementing the team’s values and processes daily.
+ Influences teams and leaders involved in strategic initiatives, leveraging strong interpersonal skills to drive outcomes without direct authority.
+ Facilitates key ceremonies with the leadership team and holds leaders accountable for key tasks and deliveries.
+ Identifies, documents and communicates best practices for engineering teams, holding them accountable for their implementation.
+ Nurtures the team culture in the office by integrating the shared global values of the team and the unique local values of the CIEC group.
+ Exercises courage by offering professional insights and opinions that may differ from the group’s direction but also has the maturity to disagree and commit when needed.
+ Guides people leaders' growth and evaluates their performance by leveraging our career path framework. Curates opportunities for growth in ways that are specific to each different people leader's needs.
+ Works with Supervisors and Managers to ensure all deliverables adhere to deadlines, specifications and budgets. Develops and implements performance metrics. Reviews and reports on project progress to leadership team.
+ Prepares and manages budget(s) and financial targets.
+ Continuously researches new techniques with respect to coding technology and coding practices. Works with the Engineering team to implement new techniques that benefit the goals of the organization.
+ Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
+ Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

**Education Qualification & Work Experience Criteria:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer Science or IT or equivalent technical discipline) or sufficient relevant career experience.
+ Understands business fundamentals and how technologies can support business goals along with how to translate business vision into a technical strategy while understanding the financial implications.
+ Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills desired to overcome unexpected project changes.
+ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills to convey complex technical solutions clearly to an organization whose executive leadership is based in the US.
+ Interested in growing a strong engineering culture that values diversity and inclusion.
**Preferred skills:**
+ Technical Leadership or other relevant management experience
+ Knowledge of tools like Jira, confluence
+ Knowledge of agile methodologies and continuous deployment processes
+ Experience with connectivity or networking infrastructure or products
