Director Risk, Operational Risk Oversight (Enterprise Functions)
Overview This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States. As a key member of the Operational Risk Oversight leadership team, this position is responsible for implementing and leading the Enterprise Functions Risk Oversight Program by providing strategic leadership and oversight alignment to core elements of the Bank’s Operational Risk Framework, Risk Appetite, and regulatory expectations. This leader will contribute to and lead the independent risk oversight of business line risk exposures through the application of defined risk management programs and techniques (e.g., RCSA, Risk Identification). The position requires a comprehensive understanding of operational risk concepts, approaches to enriching and evidencing independent oversight, and techniques to optimize interaction and engagement across the Three Lines, including other Oversight functions (e.g., Technology and Cyber Oversight, Compliance, etc.). This position works closely with senior management and is accountable for managing associates and teams. The ideal candidate will have prior first- or second-line risk oversight experience in one or more Enterprise Functions, including, but not limited to HR, Finance, and Operations. The successful candidate must further be able to positively influence a diverse audience of professionals including their peers and senior management, along with effectively communicating when required to regulators. Responsibilities Enterprise Functions Risk Oversight Establish an independent oversight for FCB’s Enterprise Functions that aligns with regulatory expectations and industry best practices for Large Financial Institutions. Oversee the application of core operational risk policies and governance processes within Enterprise Functions to ensure appropriate risk identification, assessment, and management of operational risk including ensuring appropriate remediation plans are in place. Responsible for effective challenge of operational risk including transparent and timely escalation of emerging risks and risks not being managed within the approved risk appetite. Monitors the market to identify trends of significant or emerging risks. Participates in industry forums to keep current on range of practices in Operational Risk programs. Provide business line specific risk intelligence and insights to inform risk reporting to senior management and the Board. Collaboration Builds strong partnerships with industry peers, government agencies, and risk management communities. Collaborates effectively with stakeholders and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve objectives. Coordinates program-related activities and deliverables to ensure effective collaboration within the team and across stakeholder groups. Establishes and maintains influential relationships with senior leadership across business units and functions to negotiate and to facilitate strategic changes. Managerial Functions Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Makes appropriate changes to policies, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by providing professional development. Reporting Develops and implements tools or processes which enhance risk reporting capabilities. Oversees the documentation of risk metrics and data in order to provide reports for executive leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk and Project Management or Consulting (internal or external) OR High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk and Project Management or Consulting (internal or external) Skill(s): Knowledge of operational and enterprise risk management including identification, assessment, and escalation of risk issues, Ability to track and coordinate large, complex processes, Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise and operational risk as well as risk control frameworks, PC Skills including Microsoft Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint The base pay for this position is generally between $170,000.00 and $250,000.00. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
