Description

The Technology Business Management (TBM) team powers American Express Tech Strategy by enabling Predictability, Transparency, and Efficiency through best-in-class Tech Business Management capabilities. Within TBM is the Technology Portfolio Management team (TPM) which powers technology, business, and product to achieve business and customer value by optimizing technology investments, elevating transparency and enabling decisioning through trusted insights and best in class portfolio and program management.

Within the Technology Portfolio Management team, the Enterprise Investment Planning Director will lead a team responsible for owning the Technology Investment Annual Planning process, driving optimizations, and accountability across multiple stakeholders within the Enterprise. This pivotal role will be responsible for defining and implementing changes to the existing process and defining the future state, overseeing the enterprise planning calendar and deliverable to make investment decisions.

As Director of Portfolio Management, will report directly to the VP Technology Portfolio Management. The Director will be responsible for driving evolution of Portfolio Tooling, enabling Delivery & Execution though Agile tools & Practices, supporting creation of Executive insights to enable data driven decision making. You will be responsible for accelerating strategic alignment and planning focused on driving business and customer value, enabling transformational change while connecting enterprise teams and optimizing processes and delivery.

Moreover, as a leader of a high-performing technology portfolio organization, this candidate will have a passion for process innovation, data-driven mindset, relentless attention to detail, and the ability to build and leverage meaningful relationships with the team and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Lead diverse, inclusive, and geographically dispersed teams, inspiring employee engagement, retention, progression, and performance management

·       Drive process improvements for operational efficiency and effectiveness, accelerating value delivery to the Enterprise and our customers

·       Anticipate risks and opportunities, prepare reporting and insights with a point of view to increase transparency of portfolio performance and make actionable recommendations

·       Create and deliver executive-level and stakeholder communications, elevating the product teams unified messages to drive decisions and accelerate agile decision making

·       Define clear outcomes centred around customers that can be linked to shareholder impact and enable prioritization across stakeholders

·       Proactively drive recurring communications to ensure transparency and collective understanding

·       Define and manage a multi-year roadmap, managing dependencies and proactively mitigating risk

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Proven experience building & leading diverse, geographically dispersed, high-performing teams; extensive experience & success as a leader of leaders

·       Track record of success working across global markets, with both stakeholders & tech partners, managing complex products or initiatives across international markets

·       Proven ability to analyze complex processes to find and drive innovative solutions 

·       Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate organization(s) within your direct authority as well as outside of your direct authority to achieve aggressive goals

·       Excellent interpersonal, strong written, and verbal communication skills, focusing on key messages and actions

·       Ability to bring structure to ambiguous areas of opportunity and thrive in an unstructured, fast paced environment

Salary Range: $145,000.00 to $230,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
