DIRECTOR OF UTILITY OPERATIONS AND CAMPUS ENERGY TRANSITION, Department of Utility Projects, will be responsible for leading a team dedicated to shaping and implementing MIT's campus district energy systems transition, with the goal of eliminating direct carbon emissions by 2050; head the Campus Energy Transition initiative and serve as a key leader and strategic partner within the Campus Services and Stewardship organization; oversee the operation of the Central Utility Plant, manage campus utility distribution systems, and spearhead the large-scale utility projects that align with MIT’s decarbonization priorities; support and enable construction and renovation projects for the broader academic, research, and student life initiatives across the campus; and be responsible for driving the multi-year transformation of MIT’s utility systems, integrating next-generation energy facilities and technologies: such as pioneering-scale heat pumps, advanced micro research reactors, geothermal systems, combined heating and cooling energy recovery, and campus steam-to-hot-water conversion.
