Job Description Summary

Help our procurement team move up the value chain and become trusted advisors to the business. Provide strategic leadership in driving continuous improvement of the overall sourcing end-to-end lifecycle by implementing industry best practices to reduce spend, mitigate risk, increase supplier-driven value, and improve process efficiency and effectiveness for our internal business partners and strategic relationships. Manage the procurement organization to successfully execute all enabling activities including contracting, governance, and communications.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Achieve the target operating model and deliver procurement functional excellence that supports Transamerica’s growth and performance objectives, including sourcing strategy, indirect contracting, and ongoing skills and capabilities assessment for people and resources throughout the end-to-end procurement process. 

Provide leadership to the strategic procurement team, including performance coaching and mentoring, and create developmental opportunities to build strong, qualified subject matter experts knowledgeable of industry-leading practices that meet the leadership expectations for keeping pace in our fluid and dynamic business and operating environment.  

Work with executive team to manage the organizational change and adoption of the procurement transformation strategy, including organization structure, tools, processes, policies, and training. 

Identify and implement new opportunities for supplier-driven value creation, cost savings, cost avoidance, and revenue generation, and proactively track progress towards these objectives. Continually refine these programs to deliver optimal results for the company, balancing cost, speed, capabilities, etc. of each individual procurement. 

Manage the contracting process, partnering with key stakeholders such as Legal, Third-Party Risk Management, and Service Delivery organizations, including leading and supporting negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and partners. 

Improve Category Management functional excellence and outcomes to strategically enable procurement initiatives that achieve stakeholder business imperatives. 

Build collaboration among diverse groups through effective communication, consensus, and team building within procurement and across our business partners and stakeholders. 

Analyze all current systems and applications currently leveraged in the Procurement team and identify streamlining opportunities as well as areas we could further exploit untapped functionality in systems like Concur, Ariba, Fieldglass, and SirionLabs and propose value-adding new technologies that have a positive business case. 

Identify opportunities for “Global Contracts” that enables the organization to exploit our combined purchasing leverage and build strong working relationships with the other Global Procurement leadership for any global projects or synergies.  

 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in a business field or equivalent work experience  

Ten years of procurement experience developing targets, leading change management, and developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies and contracting activities

Seven years of management experience  

Deep understanding of relevant contractual Terms, such as limitation of liability, warranty, indemnity, information security, data privacy, etc. 

Experience developing and implementing requirements/change management methodologies to execute strategic sourcing activities  

Experience developing and implementing requirements to execute and enhance day-to-day strategic sourcing and procurement activities 

Excellent written and oral communications skills to work with internal and external stakeholders

Ability to collaborate and present information to staff and management at all levels  

Ability to maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations.  

Strong negotiation skills with vendors, contractors, and customers. 

Analytical approach to problem solving, with a focus on managing a team environment with attention to results and with a sense of urgency. 

Experience with common procurement systems/technology (such as Ariba, Concur, Fieldglass, SirionLabs, Workday, Ecovadis, etc.) 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Certified Sourcing Professional (CSP), Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP), or similar industry certification. 

Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen or other Business Process Improvement methodology experience. 

Active participation in Sourcing, Procurement, and or Outsourcing Industry Associations such as Sourcing Industry Group (SIG), International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), Procurement Foundry, institute for Supply Management (ISM), or National Contract Management Association (NCMA). 

Experience in procurement transformation, coaching, and mentoring teams as they move up the value chain 

Experience with the WAVE business transformation process as an initiative owner, workstream lead, and/or milestone owner. 

Working Conditions:

Non-commuting Remote employees will not be assigned to report to a Company office location (although they may need to travel to a Company office upon request) and will perform their work remotely.

Moderate travel for team meetings and supplier visits

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $175,000 - $195,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.  

Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company discretion.
