POSITION: Director of Security and Parking

REPORTS TO: General Manager

Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for the Director of Security and Parking for ASM Global/Albuquerque Convention Center including but not limited to Kiva Auditorium, Parking Garage, Civic Plaza, ABQ Rail Yards and Jennifer Riordan Spark Kindness Sports Complex. The Director of Security is responsible for the management and performance of the Guest Services and Parking departments, as well as the 3rd party security contractor. This position provides oversight, direction, and supervision of all matters related to safety and security of facilities and surrounding areas to include, but not be limited to patrons, employees, guests, and contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Establishes facility policies and procedures and supervises the implementation and overall activities of all security personnel, in such a manner as to ensure the highest possible level of security, life safety, and asset protectionWorks in coordination with General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and the Director of Event Services to identify, control, and rectify all safety and liability exposures. Recommends and implements changes or improvements as needed.Promotes a customer service-centric and positive public relations approach to the execution of all dutiesResponsible for the professional appearance and quality of the performance, conduct & effectiveness of the entire guest services/security team as a cohesive unit assigned to each site through the development and implementation of training and continuing coaching of personnelCreates, maintains, and implements the Security & Emergency Management Program at each site; responsible for the integration of ASM’s best practices of venue security and emergency response plans into the property management and maintenance system.Maintains direct communication with Guest Services staff to address performance issues, proposes improvements and initiates prompt and corrective actions, with Human Resources, as neededDirects investigations related to security incidents, loss prevention issues, or other facility/company issues. Personally, directs and is involved in all incidents of an emergency, high priority, or sensitive nature. Submits Incident Reports in a timely manner in compliance with company policies.Assists Event Services with developing event-specific security plansWith assistance from senior management, develops security division budget proposals, monitors expenses, and addresses other financial matters related to security and life safetyResponsible for the creation and implementation of on-going, in-service training for all ASM Global/ABQ facilities personnel as it pertains to emergency procedures and drillsFunctions as Emergency Operations lead liaison with the City of Albuquerque and County of Bernalillo in the event of city and county-wide disasters; participates in training, protocol and planning with local, state and federal emergency response teamsConducts annual performance appraisals of the Guest Services staff and contracted security assigned to each siteManage and optimize parking facilities, ensuring smooth operations, customer satisfaction, and efficient traffic flowDevelop and implement parking policies, pricing structures, and maintenance schedules.Oversee the installation and maintenance of parking equipment, such as gates, payment systems, and signageCoordinate with event and operations teams to accommodate parking needs during peak times and special eventsManages the daily open/close schedule for Parking Garage access for standard and modified operating hours based on event activity, and schedules appropriate parking attendant and security for daily operational management

Education and/or Experience          

A minimum education level of: Associate of Arts/Sciences Degree (2-year) with an area of study in Security/ Criminal Justice/HospitalityAND 4 years of related work experienceAbility to pass a criminal background check, employment verification, and drug screeningBachelor’s Degree and/or graduation from a law enforcement academy is desirable

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills

Knowledge of:

The challenges, issues, philosophies, principles, tactics and procedures related to the management of security servicesModern planning, management, budgeting, organization, motivation and communication techniquesRelevant and current local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and ordinances which may impact security operations

Abilities:

Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems to successfully perform and direct varied and complex tasks. Highly proficient in both verbal and written communication and creation of policy and procedureAbility to effectively manage crises and work in high pressure environments without loss of composureAbility to interact effectively and calmly with angry or emotional patrons and employees during intensely aggravated circumstancesEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, guests, peers and senior managementManage technical aspects of the various security activities and analyze complex operational challenges
