Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Director of Sales is responsible for executing a strategic business plan targeting all Group segments to achieve or exceed revenue goals. This role provides leadership, training, and mentorship to the group sales team while actively managing key accounts. The position requires travel to meet with clients, collaborate with the Global Sales Organization (GSO), and attend industry trade shows or related events. The ideal candidate is a driven sales professional with a proven track record in both sales and account management, and a demonstrated ability to cultivate complex, mutually beneficial customer relationships.Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:
Manage assigned region, verticals and preferred partnerships in the group segment via direct and third-party lead management, targeted customer-facing meetings and opportunities, participation in trade shows and industry related events.Specializing in the key vertical markets and top account management.Ability to work with Revenue Management to provide guidance on RFP’s.Responsible for identifying, researching and developing key account plans.Develop brand level presentations, submit proposals and development of contracts.Understand hotel positioning and strategies as related to key accounts.Ensuring client and hotel satisfaction by facilitating positive, long-term relationships with both customers and Sonesta.Effectively manage and execute the sales process to secure group business, ensure clear and seamless communication across all hotel departments, and oversee the sales team to ensure consistent adherence to established processes and procedures.Attend and/or conduct daily/weekly/monthly team meetings and any other functions required by management.Be able to conduct Daily Business Review with Sales and Revenue team.Managing the development of a strategic action plan (SMART) with Group sellers. Proactively report on the progress and results of related strategic activities, to include key metrics as well as conversion and return on investment data.Develop and set annual sales goals, ensuring they are clearly communicated and effectively implemented for Group sales; maintain accurate documentation of incentive worksheets to track and validate performance achievements.Ability to carry an annual revenue goal and to achieve YOY key account revenue growth (room nights, ADR and revenue), as well as team goals and budgeted metrics.Proficient in Delphi and Meeting Broker.Ability to utilize research tools including but not limited to Knowland, Cvent.Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred.Minimum five years of previous hotel sales experience strongly preferred.Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Director of Sales or two (2) years as Associate Director of Sales experience.Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English, other languages beneficial.Professional verbal and written communication skills.Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities.Experience with Microsoft Office, Opera and Delphi FDC preferred.Ability to travel including some overnight travel is required.Frequently standing up, bending, and moving about the facility.Carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 25 pounds.Frequently handling objects and equipment.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.

Pay Range
Salary range $115,000 - $125,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills, and job specific experience/overall experience.
