The role
As a Director of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will lead, direct, and develop the Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security (SHEQS) function within Babcock at HMNB Clyde, achieving agreed business targets that delivers a high-quality performance in the SHEQS arena.
Day-to-day, you will be required to consider the environment in which Babcock operates at HMNB Clyde and to contribute to strategy proposals which go forward to Babcock International Group and Nuclear Sector for consideration and approval. You will also:
Develop and lead an improvement programme for Health and Safety that results in a top decile performance. Ensure that adequate resources (Suitable Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) person, facilities, equipment) are available to deliver governance, assurance, and improvement activities. Includes the provision of leadership to all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) staff in the performance of their duties. Control expenditure of the HSEQS Department within forecasted budget whilst actively seeking opportunities to increase income. Set the strategy for the governance, assurance, and improvement of a HSEQ Management System for all matters that may affect safety at HMNB Clyde and specifically the Authorised Site. Development and deployment of HSEQS Policy and Strategy for HMNB Clyde to meet customer, regulatory and business requirements.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Director of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security
Experienced Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security Professional within a Nuclear/Defence/ Regulated industry. Naval Nuclear propulsion programme across the Submarine Enterprise. Nuclear Emergency Response and associated procedures. Leadership – the ability to lead and drive accountability across the teams. Ability to Influence working with key stakeholders
Qualifications for the Director of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Security
Degree or Industry Experience in Health and Safety ILM Level 7 or equivalent
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
