Director of Retail Banking
About The Role Altabank, Division of Glacier Bank, is hiring a Director of Retail Banking in American Fork. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the development and execution of retail banking strategies focused on achieving growth in deposits, loan products, and account balances, while managing cost of funds and optimizing profitability. Provide strategic direction for the retail banking division, ensuring alignment with overall bank objectives and market conditions. Drive the development and execution of a comprehensive sales strategy to enhance account acquisition, customer retention, and cross-selling opportunities across all retail banking channels. Build and promote an excellent customer experience culture by embedding world-class service, relationship banking, and compliance into daily operations. Manage, coach, and develop retail banking leadership teams, including direct reports, branch managers, personal bankers, and sales staff, to maximize productivity, engagement, and talent retention. Establish performance goals and provide ongoing coaching and development to improve individual and team results. Implement and oversee sales certification programs and performance-based coaching initiatives to foster a high-performance sales environment. Oversee the performance and accountability of direct reports, ensuring branches meet or exceed goals related to sales, customer service, profitability, and compliance. Ensure operational efficiency within all retail banking processes, overseeing daily branch operations, technology systems, and workflows to meet the bank’s business objectives. Monitor and evaluate the performance of retail banking products and services, recommending enhancements or new offerings based on market trends, customer needs, and financial performance. Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Patriot Act, and other relevant guidelines. Oversee consumer lenders for loan production, coordination with bank partners, and ensuring lending activities align with bank policies and risk management standards. Utilize branch network and digital banking services to support organizational lending efforts and achieve sales goals. Develop annual budgets and forecasts for the retail banking division, including targets for deposit growth, loan production, fee income, and operating expenses. Analyze financial performance across branches and products, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, optimize profitability, and achieve financial targets. Lead initiatives to expand the bank’s market presence and customer base, through effective branch management and strategic business development activities. Collaborate across business units, including digital banking, mortgage lending, and treasury services, to align retail banking with broader organizational goals. Represent Altabank in the community and at industry events, strengthening relationships with local organizations and enhancing the bank’s reputation. About You QUALIFICATIONS: Five to ten years of similar or related experience. Four year colledge degree or combined education and related experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY: Detailed knowledge of retail banking employee management, sales, service, operations, products, digital banking strategies, consumer lending, and compliance. Experience with branch profitability analysis and developing banking teams. Change management The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior to entry level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position. Demonstrates leadership and relationship management skills with superior ability to execute using influence, negotiation, and consensus building.
