Job Summary: The Director of Purchasing, at the Oasis in Death Valley California, is responsible for directing and managing the Purchasing, Receiving, Distribution/ Warehouse, and Inventory Control functions at the Oasis in Death Valley California. The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Start Dates: November 2024 Pay Range: $74,674.17 to $79,121.33 Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why the Oasis at Death Valley? Responsibilities Maintains integrity of Cloudsuite SCM, ensure order guides are up to date and accurate. Orderly: Is the key point of contact for the stand-up and maintenance of Orderly Recipe Costing & Management Software. Establishes and maintains the integrity and accuracy of Orderly in assigned Area locations, inventory set-up, physical inventory taking & integrity and overall system success. Leads local sourcing initiatives as needed, utilizing Xanterra Supply Chain strategic sourcing processes, ensuring review and approval by key stakeholders and Supply Chain Leadership. Collaborates closely with Corporate Supply Chain team, as well as Corporate F&B team to champion implementation of sourcing strategies and ensure property is adequately represented in all national and regional sourcing decisions and proper menu support. Provides vendor performance feedback, including evaluation of compliance with national contract provisions. Drives compliance to Preferred Vendor spend channels on all properties, drives metrics to support success in this area. Establishes Vendor delivery requirements to properties and ensures vendor compliance requirements are met, with levy’s issued as needed. Creates key forecasting reporting tools and analytics to ensure in-stock positions at key times of year. Is Key point of contact to troubleshoots delivery issues, SLA’s or service needs from Vendors. Works in close alignment with Property/Functional leaders, staying abreast of business requirements, soliciting feedback, and sharing relevant information to assist in implementation of national and regional sourcing strategies. Drives continuous improvement efforts, including business processes and use of systems and tools. Performs special projects as needed. Promotes cooperative relationships with key suppliers and ensures that all suppliers are treated in a professional, ethical, and fair manner. Researches and communicates with existing and potential vendors to cultivate working relationships, negotiate cost-effective purchase orders, and develop most advantageous price, quality and service in all purchases. Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning, and directing work) to meet business needs. Trains and Develops Purchasing and Warehouse teams. Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive performance feedback. Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behaviors with all guests and employees. Select, train, schedule, and supervise warehouse staff. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with corporate purchasing and property departments. Ensure adherence to company-wide purchasing policies and procedures. Review and evaluate purchases to ensure quality materials from reliable sources in the most efficient manner at the best prices. Develop and ensure appropriate par levels are maintained and rotate stock in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. Submit timely reports to management as needed concerning price trends, availability, and recommendations for the development of new or substitute materials. Develop and implement procedures for identifying slow-moving and obsolete inventory items and make recommendations regarding the use and/or disposal of such items. Review purchase requests, analyze bids/quotes and determine and/or approve the method of purchase Qualifications Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, or related field Minimum 5 years of Purchasing leadership experience in hospitality or foodservice related industries. Well established communication and negotiation skills Demonstrated ability to be proactive in anticipating and mitigating risk factors and operational requirements. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully execute against multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Extensive knowledge of procurement processes in an automated Procurement and Inventory Management system Solid analytic skills, including price/cost analysis, demand planning establishing PAR levels, etc. Technical proficiency and knowledge in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) High level of professionalism and communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions). Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications, follow detailed direction). Attention to Detail skills (minimize the risk of error). Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills). Multi-tasking and prioritization skills. Able to follow instructions with follow-up, respect and integrity. Able to lead and guide staff members with respect and accountability. Able to provide quick and productive solutions to a multitude of challenges and/or limited resources.
