Job Title: Director of Pharmacy, Central Fill/Mail Order

Summary:
Responsible and accountable for all aspects of Central Fill/Mail Order facilities. Participate in planning and sizing Central Fill/Mail Orders based on data and forecasted volume. Ensure the right mix of robots, technology, and personnel to provide exceptional customer service and support for Hospitals. Assist with the timely implementation of new Central Fill/Mail Order facilities, working collaboratively with Hospital, Vendor, and internal staff. Demonstrate leadership skills and a commitment to high-quality care while ensuring compliance with rules and regulations. Develop best practices and benchmarking for Hospital Central Fill/Mail Order operations. Work collaboratively with pharmacy leaders and vendors to ensure planned productivity and SLAs while adhering to all policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

Size Central Fill/Mail Order facilities based on forecasted prescription volume, mix of goods, and desired outcomes for the Hospital. Assist with developing and operationalizing Central Fill/Mail Order for Hospital pharmacies. Ensure compliance with rules and regulations with a high level of integrity. Maintain and update Policies and Procedures. Provide oversight to Operations groups regarding Central Fill/Mail Order. Maintain high performance at Central Fill/Mail Order facilities and provide direction for continuous improvements. Collaborate with Hospital leaders to provide timely and accurate information to improve performance. Implement strategic objectives to maintain high satisfaction levels at Hospitals. Coordinate the use of current technologies to drive Central Fill/Mail Order productivity and best practices. Maintain high-performing teams to improve patient care. Monitor performance against plans and develop action plans as needed. Work with vendors to ensure SLAs are met and appropriate. Provide and assist with the development of training plans. Develop and maintain best practices for Central Fill/Mail Order. Work collaboratively with Pharmacy Leaders, including Finance, Managed Care, Training and Implementation, and Clinical Services.

General Activities:

Provide advice and direction related to planning, development of the business case, implementation, and ongoing operations of Central Fill/Mail Order. Collaborate in the development of policies and procedures and ensure compliance with rules and regulations. Develop an internal checklist to ensure smooth operations at Central Fill/Mail Order. Work with Hospital Leadership and executives to improve Central Fill/Mail Order adoption and intake. Work with the Managed Care department to assist with pharmacy agreements. Provide clear goals and ensure appropriate training, coaching, and feedback access. Ensure effective formal and informal performance management. Address escalated complaints and resolve issues. Apply good business process techniques and manage execution through key performance metrics and indicators. Participate in mid to long-range strategic planning for the business. Perform duties in accordance with established SOPs and aligned with the company's core values in the best interest of our customers. Ensure prompt and smooth implementation of new pharmacy programs and their continued execution. Ensure proper staffing levels in pharmacies and schedule temporary staff as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Planning/Sizing of Central Fill/Mail Order:

Work with potential customers to obtain appropriate data and assist with sizing and identifying the size/type of robots, conveyance, sortation, and other technologies necessary to fulfill the forecasted prescription volume. Participate and work with vendors, track progress, and manage the implementation of the Central Fill/Mail Order facility. Escalate items that require leadership involvement and assistance as necessary. Work collaboratively with the leaders of the Hospital and Pharmacy for successful implementation and operations.

Oversight of Central Fill/Mail Order Facilities:

Responsible for the safety and security of the Central Fill/Mail Order pharmacy facilities and their operations. Ensure organizational and store compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, accreditation standards, and company policies and procedures. Review and monitor dispensing incidents. Accountable for Loss Prevention activities, including investigations of unexplained losses; monitor for LP compliance. Oversee and audit physical inventories at each site.

Business Development:

Partner with Hospital and internal leadership to participate in sales and business development activities. Set goals, strategies, and expectations for the retention of existing business and achieving growth imperatives. Oversee operational implementation of new business contracts.
 

Education and Experience:

Basic Qualifications:

Pharm.D. or BS Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy (required). Must possess a current Pharmacist license in good standing in the state of residence (required). Central Fill/Mail Order experience (required).

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of retail, specialty, or mail-order pharmacy management experience. Clinical and Quality improvement experience. Thorough knowledge of Central Fill/Mail Order operations, workflow, quality of care, pharmacy rules and regulations, usage of robots and technology, and pharmacy benefit management practices.

Ability to work collaboratively and align the team to achieve corporate initiatives. Deep understanding of Central Fill/Mail Order operations. Deep understanding of the usage of robots, conveyors, sortation, and technology in the Central Fill/Mail Order environment. Adaptability to change and the ability to support and promote new ways of doing things. Ability to challenge the status quo and contribute to implementing best practices. Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time for the position. Comprehension of federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to the practice of pharmacy in Central Fill/Mail Order. Proficiency with workflow concepts relating to the practice and operations of Central Fill/Mail Order facilities. Complete understanding of controlled substance rules and regulations as dictated by the Drug Enforcement Agency and state and local laws and regulations.
