Job Description:
The Nursing Director is responsible for providing leadership and operational direction to the Inpatient Units at St. James Hospital. The director will partner with the Chief Nursing Officer, along with additional leaders and facility management to ensure optimal patient care, attainment of financial goals, and coaching and development of the management team. The director has accountability for all inpatient nursing departments at St. James, along with budget management, budget development, supply acquisition, process improvement, and employee performance evaluations. The director will develop goals to meet the Intermountain/Regional Strategic Plan and hold employees accountable to those goals.Along with offering a chance to work in a stable, strong, mission-based environment, this role offers the opportunity to experience Montana’s diverse culture and incredible landscape. With this position, you are eligible to participate in an annual pay-for-performance opportunity (“AP4P”). This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Intermountain Health Board-approved goals.
The Inpatient Nursing Director will oversee all aspects of the department. The role involves significant physician interaction, leadership and facilitation of strategic and operational activities, along with:
Oversight of the Med Surg Units at St. James Hospital.
Developing the strategic planning process, for day-to-day operations, standards of care and attainment of organizational goals.
Problem solving among interdepartmental disciplines, along with allocating available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice.
Providing input into executive-level decisions, and by keeping managers informed of executive level activities.
Implementing the vision, mission, and core values of the Nursing Philosophy of CARING and Intermountain Health’s Healing Commitments and Operational Effectiveness.
Being accountable for the financial management of designated departments/service lines, which includes the development, implementation and monitoring of annual capital/operating and personnel (FTEs) budgets, along with supporting and educating the management team for meeting financial goals.
Modeling an environment of professionalism and ensuring competent and sufficient number of leadership staff to meet department and patient care needs.
Guiding the development of recruitment, retention, and employee satisfaction that keeps high performers in place and maintains focus on succession planning.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited university is required
Either the bachelor’s or master’s degree must be in Nursing (degree will be verified)
RN License, required
Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
3 years management experience and 2 years clinical experience, required
Highly prefer previous MedSurg nursing experience
