Director Of Interior Design

A leading architectural firm, is seeking an experienced Director of Interior Design to establish, grow, and lead our interior design department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all interior design projects, ensuring the highest quality of design, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. This role requires a highly driven, critical and strategic thinker with a passion for design, excellent leadership skills, and a strong background in interior design within an architectural context.

Key Responsibilities:

Department Creation and Leadership:

Establish and develop the interior design department within the firm.Define the department’s vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with the company's overall strategy.Build and lead a team of talented interior designers, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.

Project Management:

Oversee all interior design projects from conception to completion.Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate interior design with overall project plans.

Design Excellence:

Lead the creative direction of all interior design projects.Ensure design solutions are innovative, functional, and aligned with client needs and company standards.Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate into designs.

Client Relations:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.Present design concepts and proposals to clients, incorporating feedback and making necessary adjustments to ensure expectations are met.Serve as the main point of contact for clients throughout the design process.

Business Development:

Identify New Opportunities: Continuously scan the market for new business opportunities, including potential projects, partnerships, and clients.Develop strategies to enter new markets and expand the firm's presence.

Client Acquisition:

Proactively seek and engage with potential clients through networking, industry events, and other business development activities.Prepare and present compelling proposals/presentations to secure new projects.

Strategic Partnerships:

Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, including brokers, contractors, and consultants, to enhance service offerings and leverage mutual opportunities.

Marketing and Promotion:

Collaborate with the marketing coordinator to develop and implement marketing strategies that highlight the interior design department’s capabilities, differentiators, and successes.Utilize social media, industry outlets, and other channels to heighten the firm's interior’s profile.

Revenue Growth:

Establish and meet revenue targets for the department.Track and analyze business development metrics to measure success and inform future strategies.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals.Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures where possible.

Resource Allocation:

Ensure that projects are adequately staffed and that resources are utilized efficiently. Oversee the hiring and training of new team members to meet project demands.

Process Improvement:

Implement and maintain efficient workflows, processes, and project management tools to enhance productivity and quality.Regularly review and refine processes to ensure continuous improvement.

Quality Control:

Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure that all design work meets the highest standards of excellence.Conduct regular reviews and audits to maintain consistency and quality across projects.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.Stay informed about changes in regulations and ensure the department adapts accordingly.

Technology Integration:

Leverage the firm’s latest design software and technologies to enhance the interiors capabilities and streamline decisions and operations.Provide training and support to the team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in interior design, with a portion in a leadership role within an architectural/interiors firm.Proven track record of managing and delivering successful interior design projects.Strong leadership and team-building skills.Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in design software such as Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and furniture.Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Creative, critical, and strategic thinker with a passion for innovative design solutions.Client-first and tenacious attitude for project success and satisfaction.Strong alignment with firm core values and personal values.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $140000.00

Benefits include health, dental ,vision, a 401k with profit sharing and company contribution, bonuses based on project/company profit.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in St. Louis,MO.
