Do you consider yourself to be a highly technical, strong communicator with the desire to work in a team environment on complex projects? Gilbane is seeking a Director of IDC to oversee the IDC function companywide. This role will sit primarily in the office.

 

Interdisciplinary Document Coordination (IDC) is a unique service at Gilbane Building Company that focuses on developing relationships with our design partners prior to the start of construction. Our team of in-house document coordination experts provide a thorough analysis of construction documents to ensure completeness and identify life safety and coordination issues, resulting in schedule and cost savings for our clients. By focusing on this enhanced QA/QC process, we strengthen relationships with our design partners. Therefore, time and energy during the construction phase of your project can be spent on building challenges and not document clarification.

Responsibilities Oversee the highest tier of IDC staff represented in each Business Unit, along with the local Business Unit reporting manager (varies per Business Unit)Supervise the annual revision of the IDC Policies and Procedures ManualLead and maintain accountability for Weekly National Workload and Staff meetings, balancing resources and workloadApprove fee proposals for issuance to operations and customersCoordinate with Corporate ManagementUpdate and maintain risk mitigation language with Corporate LegalOversee the performance review process and leadership competency development of senior IDC staffExecute monthly status reporting to the Office of the Chairman and to the Regional Managers’ peer groupSupervise Business Unit IDC Marketing and business developmentDevelop and implement national strategic planning in regard to IDCForecast department growthManage and plan budgets for software licenses and software/hardware upgradesRemove obstacles from workflow, activities of direct reports, and impediments to streamlining to maximize efficiencyParticipate in the Doer-Seller initiativeParticipate in external organizations or maintain certificationsParticipate or lead the IDC peer groupParticipate in Business Unit management meetingsServe as a Lesson Learned subject matter expert Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

BS in Engineering or Construction Management10 years of relevant experience5 years of managerial experience5 years of marketing and business development experienceOr equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.    

For Rhode Island, this ranges from $130,000 - 150,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
